Why are temporary veneers important?

If you’ve been conducting research on cosmetic dentistry, you might have come across the term, “temporary veneers” or “trial veneers”. You may be wondering, what is it all about, and what does it do? I want to educate patients who are not sure what they are all about, and hopefully, help you along this journey.

Before you embark on a permanent fixed solution to get a smile makeover and before you start the process of permanent cementation, you will want to see what your veneers will look like, because once it’s cemented permanently, it’s there for a long, long time and can last up to 15 - 20 years.

A cosmetic dentists will begin with taking a mould of your teeth and creating a blueprint of where your teeth should be in terms of alignment, the size and the shape. They will then make a template of it, and fit it in your mouth. That way you can actually see what it looks like before you start any treatment.

Your temporary veneers main purpose is to assess your phoenetics which is the way you speak, laugh and talk. Temporary veneers allows us to make all of the necessary adjustments before we finalize it. If your temporary veneers are too long or too short we can make the required changes on your current set of temporary veneers. That’s a huge benefit in itself, because you don’t want to have to make adjustments to your permanent veneers as it may potentially ruin them by causing cracks, chips or fractures. Another benefit of veneers, is that it allows you to test drive your new smile, as well as picture how the end result will look and feel.

If you find this information helpful or you know someone who’s looking into cosmetic dentistry and they don’t know what temporary veneers are, feel free to share this with them because it is our objective at Dental Boutique ™ to help patients to achieve the smile they are looking for. If I can help any one of you out there, it fulfils our mission in giving our patients a nice confident smile.
