Why are videos the best content on LinkedIn?

Why are videos the best content on LinkedIn?

Here is a quick reason why videos are the best content on LinkedIn (not just on LinkedIn, but any other platform).

Have you heard of the 7-38-55 rule?

The 7-38-55 rule indicates that only 7% of all communication is done through verbal communication, whereas the nonverbal component of our daily communication, such as the tonality of our voice and body language, makes up 38% and 55% respectively.

When you write a blog, text post, or poll on LinkedIn, it equates to only 7% of the above equation. What if you have your video? You have 7% text, 55% body language, and 38% tone of voice. It helps people to remember you more. They feel like they know you for quite some time. Why not utilise this opportunity and upload videos? Luckily, LinkedIn also promotes videos.

From my personal experience, here are some tips for creating videos based on what performs the best for us:

  1. Keep the video small - 60 to 90 seconds
  2. If you want people to remember your brand, create an intro&outro for the video
  3. Always add subtitles to the video as most people watch on mute
  4. Since 55% contributes to the body language, and 38% to the tone of voice, practice well before the shoot. Ask your close friends/colleagues for feedback. Don't rush. Take time.
  5. Since the video is small, focus only on one main point.
  6. To build authority on LinkedIn, please talk about recent updates in your industry
  7. Have a good microphone
  8. Natural or artificial light... doesn't matter, light up your face. That helps people to remember you better
  9. Run video ads on LinkedIn to push video to more of your target audience

Hi Latha, thanks for the tips. I've tried video's couple of times but they don't upload on LinkedIn. Is there a particular format they need to be in please as they same videos have worked on other platforms? Thank you in advance.
