Why We Are Not Canva!

Why We Are Not Canva!

Hey there!

As the mature founder of a tech startup, I often find myself explaining why I went for the wild ride of being a startup founder (zero to one). It’s like what Elon Musk says: “Being a startup founder feels like you are swallowing glass and staring into the abyss.” I totally get that. It's kinda cool to say I feel like Musk sometimes, right?

Whenever I chat about KittyKat with my friends, clients, relatives, peers, and even random people on flights, I always see this light bulb moment. They smile and say, “Oh, so you’re like Canva!”

Then it strikes me that as a self-proclaimed brand person and storyteller, I haven’t done the best job of telling KittyKat’s story.

Most decision-makers don’t really get what goes into marketing and creative work.

They are NOT interchangeable; they work together like wine and cheese.

Marketing sets the direction, and creative work brings it to life with engaging and visually appealing content.

BOTH are essential for a successful marketing campaign, driving business growth and brand recognition. (I’ll share more about this in my next post, so stay tuned!).

But let’s get back to the big question: Why We Are Not Canva !

Well, we create the visuals that fit into the templates Canva provides. As a designer, I like to think of myself as a chef. I can whip up a great dish and wow my customers, but without fresh tomatoes, herbs, and top-notch wagyu beef, it’s hard to make something amazing, even with a great recipe.

Rubbish in and rubbish out – we need great ingredients to create a super dish. This applies to all tech products. Just like AI needs good, clean data to churn out accurate results.

It’s the same with design. I can create fantastic layouts, UX/UI, and templates, but it’s the content that goes into these templates that truly brings out a brand’s vibe and feel.

No shade to fellow designers (I’m one too), but without great visual assets, a designer’s job often becomes finding stock images from sites like Shutterstock or Pexels and ending up being a digital technician, tweaking images to fit the brand. Sure, this works, but the downside is that these images could be used by your competitors or in entirely different industries.

That’s why brands shoot their own visuals – to protect their unique image and ensure their visuals truly reflect their brand’s vision and vibe.

So, KittyKat is NOT Canva. We provide the visuals that Canva, Figma , Photoshop, (and the list goes on) need to create amazing work. We’re the secret ingredients that make a good dish great.

At KittyKat, we’re all about partnering with Canva, Figma, and Photoshop users to create top-notch, bespoke designs that best represent their work and help brands consistently create awesome content that speaks to their identity.

Thanks for reading, and let’s create something amazing together!
