Why is it not working for me now?

Why is it not working for me now?

Life is complex to few, mixed bag to few and contrary to this few take life as simple and enjoy. Everyone is a human but how does so called contradiction arise.

Tried scratching my head and something flashed out of woods. The whole and sole reason seems to be FLEXIBILITY, meaning how flexible you are to adopt changes that come by age/profession/culture/region/religion etc.

As a student few things that you believe right could have worked and you might have got higher grades. For a while think about the approach that you took as a boat and student life as a river. Will that same boat can be useful to you cross a ocean? Possible, but it can be riskier as complexities increase.

Can same efforts/skills that worked in getting fantastic grades in education that helped you to be successful works for corporate/professional life? For a moment assume this stage as a desert.

What about crossing a desert with a boat? What!!, You may laugh if someone really does it. Knowingly or unknowingly what few of us do is, we do not LEARN or UNLEARN few aspects which worked for us in the past and made successful.

Let us further divide professional life into two parts;

  • Entry level employee to till mid level manager
  • A Senior Leader

Few of your beliefs, skills, approaches which could have absolutely worked and sure shot success for an entry level employe till mid level manager started questioning when you move further.

What happens if you become senior leader who is expected to show the way to the company or run a business? suddenly you are not crossing RIVER or DESERT, now you are climbing MOUNTAIN.

To be successful in whatever you do, what you need is to know the domain in which you are operating and apply the best suited skill/tool set. As you go upward you are expected to be real, responsible and responsive.

If you are one among "WHY IS IT NOT WORKING FOR ME NOW?" then think about what you are crossing with what tool. Check the Flexibility part, you shifting gears as appropriate and with right tools is key to success.
