Why are you doing this?

Have you ever seen Simon Sinek’s TED Talk about the idea of the Golden Circle?

The main theme that has always stuck with me:

Start with “why.”

As business owners, we often get focused on what we do and how we do it.

Think about it.

When a customer comes calling, we’re quick to tell them about what our programs are. Not to mention we’ll dig into how we’re going to help them get from where they are to where they want to be.

But there’s one thing we don’t tell them:

Why we want to help them.

And that’s a mistake!

When your potential customers don’t know your “why,” that means they don’t know your story.

And because they don’t understand what makes you care about what you’re doing in the first place, they can’t engage or connect with you.

So, you’ll have a hard time making them say yes to your offer.

Do You Know Your Why?

Here’s what I want you to do:

Ask yourself why you do what you do.

Now, I don’t want you to focus on the simple stuff here.

Sure, you’re running a business because you want to make money and be successful. But that doesn’t get to the core of why you started your own thing.

Your story is what gets you to that core.

That’s why as you ask yourself why you’re doing what you do, I want you to take a journey into your past.

Trace the steps that led you to where you are now…

Along the way, you’re going to find the experience and events in your life that influenced your decision to start a business.

Understanding your own story will let you know where your passion comes from. You’ll know the exact reason why you want to help people and share it with anybody that you talk to.

Incorporating your why into your messaging is crucial if you want customers to connect with you.

But perhaps you’re struggling to dig into your story to find out your why…

If that’s the case, book a Call to Clarity with me today and we’ll explore together.
