Over the years, while navigating the competitive landscapes of IT and cybersecurity sales, I stumbled upon a revelation that reshaped my understanding of business success.

My journey took me across Asia, consulting for various industries, and it was during this time I began to notice a clear divide between companies that were merely surviving and those that were thriving on a global scale.

It wasn't until recently, however, that the pieces of this puzzle finally came together in my mind.

Historically, enterprise sales strategies have predominantly revolved around direct, outbound selling - cold calls, cold emails, and the traditional 'lunch and learn' sessions.

These methods, while still effective to some degree, operate under a model that is increasingly becoming outdated.

This realization dawned on me last year: the most successful companies differentiate themselves not through their sales strategies per se, but through their sales assets.

In today's market, irrespective of the industry, the initial step for any decision-maker, whether a CEO or a CISO, is research. Before engaging in any sales conversation, the modern consumer turns to Google, seeking answers, comparing options, and weighing the feasibility of solutions.

This is true for both B2B transactions involving multimillion-dollar contracts and individual purchases of smaller scale products or services.

The key to capturing this audience? Sales assets.

Sales assets are essentially content strategically placed across various platforms to guide potential customers through their buying journey. They serve as a beacon, illuminating the path from initial curiosity to the final purchase decision.

In a world where information is king, these assets empower consumers, offering insights, building trust, and establishing credibility long before a sales representative enters the picture.

Reflecting on my own experiences, both as a sales professional and as a consumer, I've recognized the critical role of content in the decision-making process.

Cold calls and emails may grab attention momentarily, but it's the content that potential customers find online that truly influences their choices. Lack of compelling content or sales assets not only diminishes a company's visibility but also its appeal, driving prospects towards competitors who have mastered the art of content creation.

This insight has led me to advocate for the creation and distribution of diverse, high-quality video content.
