Win10 2020 update on Hub v1 &v2

The latest windows update for Hub v2 have been available for a while. Although it was paused after the first two waves, due to some errors. But it will be available for the rest via Windows update in late February 2021.

Hub v2

If you haven´t got the update and can not wait you can still do a manually download of the image here: Microsoft Support | Download a recovery image for Microsoft Surface

You will need a serial number from a Surface Hub to download the image. Place the image on a FAT32 formatted USB drive (USB-C is preferred), and do a Bare Metal Recovery as described here: Reset and recovery for Surface Hub 2S - Surface Hub | Microsoft Docs

Depending on your network speed, I experience anything from 1.5 hours - 20 min. downloads. Download to the PC and then move to the USB Drive. the Bare Metal Recovery itself takes 20-30 minutes to install on the Surface Hub v2.

Hub v1

The Win10 2020 update will start to be available from late February 2021 via Windows update. But you can already do a manually download via the good old tool: Surface Hub Recovery Tool (SHRT). If you haven´t already the Tool installed you can download it here: Download Surface Hub Tools for IT from Official Microsoft Download Center. You will need a USB 3.0 to SATA adaptor Cable to connect the SSD directly to your pc. Here is how you find the SSD: Surface Hub SSD replacement - Surface Hub | Microsoft Docs

Before updating to Win10 2020 please read the known issues here: Known issues: Windows 10 Team 2020 Update - Surface Hub | Microsoft Docs

After the update of the new OS, I will also recommend to add the Chromium browser: Install and configure the new Microsoft Edge on Surface Hub - Surface Hub | Microsoft Docs

That will add new features like sync your favorites and Collections. It will also give you access to do WebRTC calls in the browser, so you can join Zoom or Webex.

Yoav Barzilay when is an update possible via Windows Update (for v1)? The update does not work for me via the tool because the hard drive on my notebook does not work via the USB / SATA adapter.

Thanks for the useful tool, is it possible to instal Windows 10 Pro also on the V1 Hub?
