The Women’s Foundation in Puerto Rico /Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico needs our help

Puerto Rico has been hard hit, first with Hurricane Maria, and now devastating earthquakes. I would like to share a message with you from my dear friend, Gladys Carrion, a founding member of The Women’s Foundation in Puerto Rico /Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico desperately needs our help. #PuertoRico, #TheWomen'sFoundation in Puerto Rico, #puertoricoearthquake #exaltyouth #earthquakerelief

Dear Friends,
Puerto Rico, as you know, was hard hit by a 6.4 earthquake and continues to experience multiple aftershocks on a daily basis that have devastated the southwestern part of the Island. These quakes have caused major infrastructure damage to homes, schools, hospitals and roads, and havoc in the lives of tens of thousands of Puerto Rican’s living in the six towns at the epicenter of the quake. Many have been forced to flee their homes. Families are living in temporary shelters and many more have set up tents in parks, open land or living in their cars afraid to be indoors. The emotional toll is immeasurable as people seek a safe haven from the uncertainty of more quakes and loss of their homes and way of life.
Puerto Rico has yet to fully recover from Hurricane Maria. An already vulnerable electrical and water grid, poor roads and compromised housing and building stock that lack structural integrity are now subject to daily aftershocks making recovery a slow and challenging undertaking.
The Women’s Foundation in Puerto Rico /Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico, of which I’m a founding member and secretary of the Board, has established an Emergency Relief Fund and every dollar raised will go directly to address the needs of women and their families. We have already committed $10,000.
Please support Puerto Rico. Make a donation to our Emergency Relief Fund. Send your checks to Puerto Rico Women’s Foundation, 1863 Ave Fernandez Juncos, Apt 205, San Juan, PR 00909.
You can also make a credit card donation through our website, www.prwf.org. Click on Donation and you will be directed to our partner the Puerto Rico Community Foundation. You can change the language to English by clicking on the English Flag at the very top of the page and click on “I want to Donate“ and from the list of funds provided, select Women’s Foundation in Puerto Rico /Fundación de Mujeres en Puerto Rico to make your donation. It’s easier than it sounds!
Gracias!
Big Hug,
gladys
