Women's woven fashion agent in Vietnam

I worked for the best women’s woven fashion agent in Vietnam. We referred to ourselves as a manufacturer because there is such a negative stigma about agents in Vietnam. The value we offered as a women’s fashion agent in Vietnam is worth 100 good night sleeps. If you need an agent, then contact me, I can introduce to a good one. If you don’t need an agent then contact me because I offer consulting that can save you time and money if you are new to sourcing apparel production in Vietnam.

My boss began his journey in Vietnam in 1980. He was hired as the country manager overseeing 200,000 women’s woven fashion garments produced per month being shipped to the UK. With his accounting background and understanding of the high street in London he mastered the art of working with Vietnamese suppliers, managing quality, developing samples and shipping on-time. What I liked about him the most is his level headed approach to solving daily sampling and production problems.

He watched over the years as buyers stopped going to Thailand and Hong Kong and started traveling to Vietnam to tap into the high quality, low cost Vietnam offered back in 80’s. He took our clients under his wings and navigated them through a war torn country and showed them how Vietnam was evolving into a modern society with the fastest rising middle class in Southeast Asia. He managed to get them capacity in his arsenal of 12 reliable women’s woven fashion factories. Fast forward to 2018, getting capacity at low prices is as easy as winning the lottery. He still won 9/10 times up to his last day before retirement.

We were experts at producing coats, blazers, trousers, dresses, skirts and jump suits. We had close connections with a partner factories in China that specialized in women’s fashion padded jackets. Our Chinese partner consistently beat Vietnamese quality and price for women’s fashion padded jackets. We knew what could be made for the best price and quality in China versus Vietnam. We successfully shipped for brands like Top Shop, Dorthy Perkins, Evans, Katies and Millers season after season thanks to our factory relations, technical knowhow and customer service.

We produced 250 samples per month to offer our customers cutting edge designs and showcase new fabrics we sourced all over Asia. Our pattern maker and garment technician worked with our clients to make modifications and find ways to decrease the price without sacrificing quality. We also had a graphic designer ready to show the latest prints and offer the best local printing options.

When it comes to fabric, we sourced out of China, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam. The majority of the fabric we bought was ITY fabric out of Korea. We had great sources for Georgette, Crepe, Chiffon, Cambric and Chintz. We got the fabric into Vietnam, to the factories and re-exported within 30 to 90 days.

The challenge we faced up to our last day of working together was that Chinese orders were flooding the Vietnamese market. On one hand it was good for Vietnam because factories were bursting at the seams and rolling in the dough but, on the other hand, it was getting harder and harder to get capacity at cheap prices. If you are new to Vietnam then anticipate getting in line. Anticipate being offered high prices initially. I can introduce you to one of our prized ladies fashion factories and get you to the front of the line quickly.

I can also introduce you to our best competitor, the second best women’s woven fashion agent in Vietnam. Most buyers these days want to deal directly with factories, right? They see it as a cheaper option. In reality it is not. While larger factories are easy to work with because they have merchandisers that speak English fluently, most of the larger factories have high MOQs and are fully booked with the Walmarts of the world. If you want to work with smaller MOQs and smaller factories like we did, then the language barriers became formidable and when problems happen, communication broke down, delays happened. Our presence was required on-site to solve the problems clearly and quickly. We added additional value on the client side as well. We had offices in the Europe and often visited clients to facilitate problem solving. When things go wrong, having an agent is a godsend. My boss closed his business and is now sipping Martini’s in Maui. He left a legacy of good connections that I can introduce you to. Are you interested to be introduced to a good agent that charges a reasonable commission that will translate into 100 good night sleeps seasons on end?
