World Architecture Day
The essence of architecture is celebrated on World Architecture Day to raise awareness about the importance of architecture and its impact on our lives. It appreciates the work of architects and other professionals who design and build the spaces we live, work and play in. On this occasion, Design21 shares views on the social impact of architecture emphasising the yearly theme.
Architects have the power to address social issues through their works. They can design affordable housing solutions, create accessible public spaces, and enhance the quality of life for communities. Keeping up with the context, UIA chose the theme ‘Architecture for Resilient Communities’ as they collaborate on projects that focus on global challenges like climate change and urbanisation. These communities prioritise sustainable design and disaster-resistant structures to ensure that our cities can withstand the socio-economic shifts. This architecture fosters adaptable, inclusive, and safe spaces, empowering communities to thrive in the face of adversity.
As we celebrate this day, let us appreciate the contributions of the resilient communities in designing our built environment, acknowledge the architects who have collaborated to transform our world, and look forward to a future where architecture continues to be a driving force for positive change.
