World Introvert Day: Changing the Game Without a Word
Hey there, Curious Introverts,
My bad for the silence, but hey, you know us introverts: we recharge before we re-engage.
Before you ask, I didn't ghost you.
I was practicing what we introverts do best: strategic silence. (Maybe I got a little too good at it.)
But I'm back and ready to drop some wisdom to make you MVP of 2025.
And what better day to reconnect than a new year and World Introvert Day?
It's the only day it's socially acceptable to turn down plans and get praised.
So let's celebrate our day introvertedly: meaningful insights, a sprinkle of wit, and zero awkward small talk.
Let's double down on our strengths and lead on our terms this year. Whether building something new, guiding a team, or reclaiming space daily, this is your moment to shine in your way.
To help you get started, grab your free guide: Own the Room: 50 Questions to Redefine Leadership for Introverts—a toolkit to deepen your leadership skills and center your power skills.
Now, let's get to it: Learn, Lead, Launch: your blueprint for making this year a masterpiece.
Learn
Here's a wild fact for you: Introverts are 74% more likely to report feeling overstimulated during team meetings. But instead of competing in the chaos, we've mastered the art of observation, reflection, and when the moment is right delivering the insight that shifts the room.
Leadership isn't about who speaks first but who makes the most sense.
Introverts are built for that.
Lead
Last month, I joined a meeting that felt more like a verbal Olympics, everyone sprinting to throw ideas into the air. Instead of jumping in, I took my time. The room paused, nodded, and adjusted course when I finally shared my thoughts.
Moral of the story? Introverted leadership is about pace, not volume.
If you lead your way, the room will follow.
Launch
Tip #1 of the Day: Flip the focus with one bold question.
At your next meeting, ask: "What's the most important decision we need to make before we leave this room?"
This question slices through the noise, centers everyone's energy, and positions you as the quiet strategist steering the ship. Bonus: It works in person or on Zoom—no grandstanding needed.
Tip #2 of the Day: Create Your Own “Pause Power.”
At your next meeting or event, intentionally build moments of silence into the conversation. For example, after someone makes a key point or a big decision is proposed, simply say: “Let’s take 30 seconds to think about this before we move forward.”
Why it works: Silence feels awkward to most people—but to introverts, it’s a superpower. By creating a structured pause, you demonstrate confidence, control the pace of the room, and give everyone space to reflect. It’s a subtle yet transformative way to own the moment without needing to dominate it.
Action Step: Post your leadership resolution for the new year on LinkedIn. Use this as your opener: "As an introverted leader, my goal this year is to [insert your unique style of leading]."
Invite your network to share their leadership resolutions and tag someone whose approach inspires them.
Let's make introverted leadership a loud movement.
Happy New Year and Happy World Introvert Day! 🎉
Here's to leading rooms our way—thoughtfully, powerfully, and with plenty of time to recharge afterward.
Cheers to 2025!🥳
