Wrapping up 2024: A time for reflection and a fresh start

As the year winds down and the world glitters with shiny distractions, it’s easy to get swept up in the festive rush. But amidst the Christmas buzz, I’m going to sit down with a mince pie or two and reflecting on what’s worked well this year and deciding what’s going to look different in 2025.

For me, because I like change, this means shaking up a few routines, for example:

Shaking up my workspace

Sometimes, a change of scenery can do wonders for focus and creativity. To that end, I’ve booked a cottage in Dorset for a working holiday this spring. It’s a chance to step away from my usual environment, gain fresh energy, and tackle my projects with renewed clarity. If you’ve been feeling stuck, consider how a workspace clear up, refresh or temporary change of scene might invigorate your own routines.

Doubling down on LinkedIn

LinkedIn has been a consistent focus for me this year, but I’m ready to take it up a notch. For 2025, I’ll be experimenting with new ways to bring more value to my network. Whether it’s through richer storytelling, actionable tips, or being more relatable, I’m excited to explore how I can amplify my impact. If LinkedIn has been on your radar but you’ve hesitated to dive in, why not make it part of your goals for the new year?

Expanding my networking horizons

One of my goals for 2025 is to focus on building meaningful, long-term relationships through networking. Rather than chasing sales leads, I’m aiming to connect with people who inspire me and share similar values. Authentic connections have the power to spark creativity, provide fresh perspectives, and foster collaboration - all of which are far more fulfilling (and effective) than transactional interactions. If networking feels daunting or disingenuous to you, consider reframing it as an opportunity to meet people who energize and motivate you.

What about you?

The Christmas break is the perfect time to pause and ask yourself:

  1. What am I proud of this year? Whether it’s a big milestone or small wins, take stock of what you’ve achieved.
  2. What do I want to approach differently in 2025? Identify what's not working for you right now in work and life outside of work - the habits, routines, or mindsets that may need a tweak or a complete overhaul.
  3. How can I start the year aligned with my goals? Set clear intentions now so you can hit the ground running.

If want any support thinking bigger or differently for 2025, why not spend some time with me to create your 2025 playbook to help you align work, life, and success - and get a head start on the year?

It's also a great idea to book things in advance to plan ahead so that you have things to look forward to. Also many people take time off out of exhaustion, when they have to, as opposed to when they want to.
