The writers struggle
I must admit to an unsettled morning. Not one full of frustration just one filled with thoughts that are perhaps unjust. My attempt to place one thought in front of another has become a complete waste of time, as no coherent series has arisen out of the turmoil of my mind. To what do I attribute this spiral of empty traction, what can I blame for my mind being full yet completely empty? Oh, I have topics of blame to fill pages yet are any truly to blame? I honestly expect not.
So why does my mind cast about for ideas that gain traction? Wheels turning and turning yet nothing results from all my effort. Empty words strung one to another yet no value results, Empty thoughts combined to produce empty words. No encouragement, no hope offered, no blessings given, just empty words strewn across the page.
This is truly what I feel when reading most of what I read today. People struggling to find words to express their thought but failing to express their hearts and meaning. So what we have to read are simply empty words struggling to express meaning. At the heart of each post or prose is a struggle to express what is truly felt and meant.
I have read powerful phrases that were proceeded and followed by half-written thoughts embraced by frustration. Frustration not at the issue or situation but at the utter lack of ability to find the words to express their point.
For many, this is hardly news as those of us who have struggled to write have always searched for the words to place on the page, in what often appears to be a vain struggle to express our thoughts and transmit our passion. Perhaps that is why there are so few writers who have been called great, those few who at one time or another were able to catch that rare moment in time where the thoughts of their hearts were permitted to be expressed on the page, heart, and mind working as one, finding the exact phrase that is able to reveal the true intent of the passion and in that one glorious moment place it on the page.
To have that one powerful phrase followed not by an empty series of words but instead a second phrase that sets the world on fire. Is that not why many of us struggle to write? To produce that one page that actually reproduces our passion regardless of our topic.
Most of us are not attempting to produce an epic, we are simply struggling to produce a point properly placed in words.
May the Lord guide you as you search for the words to say and the perfect way to express them.
Blessings
