ON WRITTEN OFF FIVE LAKH CRORES OF NPA

The NDA government has written off five lakh crores of NPA. But they have been nasty about paying pension to teachers and not accepting OROP recommended by the 7th Pay commission. Aren't "babus" and teachers not engaged in the service of nation building. The amount involved is just a rounding error of the NPA written off. They conceded OROP to the armed forces, whom they pretend to love so much, only after a prolonged agitation and month long hunger strike by the veterans. The BJP is beholden to the big business houses and resolutely stands by the policy of privatisation and liberalisation.

" Bulk of the writeoffs, or almost four-fifth of the total amount written off in the last 10 years, have accrued in the last five years since April 2014. In its reply to an application filed by The Indian Express, the RBI revealed that the total loan written off in the last five years since April 2014 amounted to Rs 5,55,603 crore", and mind you without any agitation. What is more brazen is that the government is not willing to make public the names of the defaulters. In the same vein the list of the donors of electoral bonds is not being shared publicly, ninety percent going to one political party, the BJP. One can put to and to together and see through the game.
