A Year of Becoming
My Journey of Growth, Advocacy, and Impact in 2024
As the clock struck midnight on January 1, 2024, I found myself sitting quietly, not just celebrating a new year but contemplating the story I wanted to write for the next 12 months of my life. Storytelling has always been at the core of who I am—an instrument for connection, a bridge to higher ideas of consciousness, and a tool for empowering others.
At the start of the year, I carried a heart full of aspirations. I dreamed of amplifying unheard voices, shining a light on marginalized communities, and creating spaces where people could reconnect with their true selves. Yet, alongside those dreams, I felt the weight of uncertainty.
Will I show up consistently?
Where and how will I get the content to share?
Will I be able to balance?
I knew this journey wouldn’t be easy. The challenges of navigating new opportunities, pushing past self-doubt, and maintaining my resilience loomed large. Still, I was determined. I resolved to show up—not perfectly, but authentically. To embrace both the wins and the lessons, to stay anchored in my faith, and to let my passion for storytelling guide me through every moment of growth and impact.
Looking back now, I realize that 2024 has been a year of becoming. A year where I didn’t just tell stories but lived them—one step, one achievement, one act of service at a time.
Milestones and Achievements
Creation of Journey To You Podcast
I started this podcast during my lowest moment. Everything that I had planned for this year seemed to be crumbling down, and I remember on February 27th this year, I was so low and needed someone to talk to, which I didn’t have. I decided to look for an instant therapist online, but I couldn’t find one. I cried to God, and He led me to create a platform, which for me at the time I just wanted a place where I could air out my feelings. Months later, what started as a heartfelt platform for sharing my thoughts and experiences has now reached seven countries, connecting with listeners across continents.
Through each episode, I uncovered the beauty of vulnerability and authenticity, drawing from personal stories and inviting others to do the same. The podcast became more than just a creative outlet—it has grown into a space where changemakers could find inspiration, hope, and practical tools to navigate their own paths of transformation. Each message I receive from a listener reminds me of the power of storytelling to bridge divides, build communities, and spark positive change.
Mentoring the next generation of Leaders
Midway through the year, I took on a new role as a mentor with the Future Africa Mentorship Program. This opportunity allowed me to give back to a program that had shaped me as a scholar in 2023.
Guiding my mentees through the creation of a policy portfolio on “Improving Inclusivity in the Employment Environment for People Living with Disabilities in Uganda” was both a challenge and a privilege since I have been advocating for inclusive education for children with disabilities in rural areas since 2022. Together, we explored the nuances of policy analysis, development, and communication, crafting narratives that advocated for systemic change.
Beyond the technical skills, the mentorship process reaffirmed my belief in collaborative learning. The vibrant exchange of ideas and the chance to watch my mentees grow into confident changemakers made this experience one of the highlights of 2024.
Amplifying my voice on International Platforms
This year also brought opportunities to engage on global platforms. I participated in the GYBN-CBD Instagram Live for International Youth Day, reflecting on the theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.”
Through this session and my involvement in International Youth Week, I deepened my understanding of youth engagement, sustainability, and the importance of embracing technology to drive progress. Serving over 5,000 young people during International Youth Week was a profound experience, teaching me discipline, the art of early mornings, and the value of building networks with people from diverse backgrounds.
These moments reminded me of the power of showing up—not just to share ideas but to actively listen, learn, and contribute to a collective vision for a better future.
Advocating for Inclusive Education
My work as an advocate for students with disabilities has always been close to my heart, but this year, I witnessed stories that reignited my commitment.
There is this albino student who defied societal expectations to shine as a footballer and athlete. There was another—a boy with a leg impairment—who not only played football but became the top student in national exams, earned a full scholarship, and is now nurturing his talents at a national school. These stories are proof that when given the right opportunities, every student can thrive.
Through LinkedIn posts, personal mentorship, and community engagements, I continued to champion the potential of students with disabilities in rural areas, ensuring their stories reached hearts and minds far beyond our borders.
Learning and Growth
Transformation Inside and Out
Every milestone this year wasn’t just a step forward in my work—it has been a step inward, shaping who I am as a person and as a professional. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has been profoundly enriching, offering lessons and skills that have left an incredible mark on me.
Discipline and Commitment
During International Youth Week, I had initially signed up for just two days of service, yet I ended up serving over 5,000 children and young people across five days. The sheer magnitude of this experience taught me discipline in its purest form—waking up early, staying energized, and giving my all despite the exhaustion. It reminded me that impact is born not out of convenience but out of commitment.
This week of service also deepened my belief in the power of showing up. Seeing the joy, hope, and inspiration radiating from these young people reaffirmed my “why"—to be a conduit for change, to inspire others to see and realize their own potential.

Growth Through Mentorship
Mentorship wasn’t a one-way street. I, too, grew in the process. I learned the art of collaborative learning—how to listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, and approach challenges as a team. The joy of seeing my mentees develop confidence, articulate their visions, and propose solutions to real-world problems was one of my proudest moments this year. It reminded me of the ripple effect of investing in others: when we lift others, we lift ourselves.
Networking and Inspiration
From the Clinton Global Initiative, I took away more than just notes—I left with a renewed sense of purpose. Tony Marx’s session on creating stories for a better tomorrow resonated deeply, sparking an idea that has been brewing in my mind for some time: an online library.
This budding vision ties together my love for digital storytelling and my passion for connecting communities with information and opportunities. It’s an idea that has already graduated from infancy, and I have been consistent since its inception in September 2024. I am eager to nurture into a space where stories, resources, and inspiration can converge for the benefit of all.
The Power of Authentic Advocacy
Through my advocacy for students with disabilities, I have learned to celebrate small wins as much as big ones. Sharing the stories of students with disabilities—the footballer overcoming societal barriers, the top-performing scholar with a disability—showed me the power of personal narratives in shifting mindsets and inspiring action.
These stories weren’t just about their success; they were about resilience, hope, and the limitless possibilities that arise when someone believes in you. They also reminded me why I began this journey: to ensure that no one, regardless of ability or circumstance, is left behind.
A Year of Becoming
As I reflect on this year, I see more than just accomplishments—I see growth. I’ve become more disciplined in my habits, more confident in my leadership, and more intentional in my advocacy. I’ve learned to trust my voice, lean into challenges, and embrace collaboration as a source of strength.
Above all, 2024 reinforced this truth: that showing up—authentically, consistently, and with a heart open to learning—is the foundation for meaningful impact.
Consistency and Resilience
This year wasn’t without its challenges. There were moments of doubt, exhaustion, and uncertainty — moments when the weight of my aspirations felt heavier than I could carry. But through it all, I showed up. Not because it was easy, but because my faith and belief in the transformative power of storytelling anchored me.
At the heart of my journey lies a simple yet profound truth: stories connect us to ourselves, to each other, and to something greater than us. This belief became my guiding light, helping me push forward even when the path wasn’t clear.
When I sat down to record episodes of Journey To You Podcast, I reminded myself of the changemakers who would find hope and clarity in those conversations. When I spent late nights working on Journey To You Library consistently, I thought of the countless lives it could impact changemakers by shedding light on their challenges and potential.
Faith played an equally pivotal role. In moments of doubt, I leaned into my belief that every step I took was guided by a higher purpose. My actions were fueled by a conviction that these efforts mattered — that they were part of a greater story being written.
Consistency, I’ve learned, isn’t about being perfect. It’s about showing up, imperfectly but wholeheartedly, day after day. It’s about holding onto your “why” when the “how” feels uncertain. And it’s about trusting that even the smallest actions — can create ripples of change.
This year, I showed up not just for my goals, but for the people and causes that inspire me to keep going. And as 2024 comes to a close, I carry with me the assurance that faith and storytelling are the tools I’ll continue to use to build a better tomorrow.
My Vision for 2025
As I close the chapter of 2024, I find myself gazing toward 2025 with a heart full of anticipation and a mind brimming with ideas. This year has been a testament to what faith, consistency, and storytelling can achieve, and I know the journey ahead holds even greater possibilities.
2025 will be a year of deepening my commitment to equipping changemakers and advocating for inclusion. The seeds planted this year — through Journey To You, my mentorship at Future Africa, and my advocacy for children with disabilities — will continue to grow into impactful initiatives.
The vision of continuing with Journey To You Library excites me in ways I can hardly put into words. This space will grow to be more than just a repository of articles; it will be a bridge connecting stories, resources, and people. It will be a place where knowledge meets inspiration, where ideas converge, and where changemakers can find the tools they need to transform their communities.
I’m also eager to embark on new storytelling initiatives, weaving together narratives that inspire action and amplify voices that need to be heard. Whether it’s through my podcast, my library, or collaborative projects, I will continue to use storytelling as a tool for connection, empathy, and change.
Mentorship will remain at the core of my work. Guiding the next generation of African changemakers has taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about creating spaces where others can thrive. In 2025, I hope to mentor more bright minds, learning and growing alongside them as we tackle issues of inclusion, sustainability, and empowerment.
But beyond the projects and plans, 2025 holds something even more meaningful: the opportunity to keep showing up. To show up for the causes I believe in. To show up for the people who inspire me. To show up for the higher calling that drives me.
My “why” remains the same: to create a more inclusive, connected, and empathetic world through storytelling, advocacy, and collaboration. And as I step into the new year, I carry with me the lessons of 2024 — the discipline, resilience, and unwavering belief that small actions can lead to extraordinary change.
To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you. Your support, encouragement, and belief in me have been my fuel. I hope 2025 brings us even closer to a world where every story matters, every voice is heard, and every person is empowered to make a difference.
Journey To You won its very first pitch competition in 2024-the year of its inception. I am happy to see what 2025 has in store for us.
THANK YOU.
