Are you a Cock?

My apologies for the clickbaitey title … it wasn’t exactly subtle. But, as this article is about divine sensuality, it was intentional.

There are many people who react to what they perceive as a global loosening of morals. Pride parades where overt sexuality, in all its flavours, is prevalent. The gender debate, where you can be cancelled if you say that there are two biological genders; even when you add that perceived gender is a spectrum.

The cock you see in the comment is quite young, approx. 4 months. His name is Gandalf. And he is confused. He runs after both mature hens and his littermates, searching... And they are equally confused at his approach, which means he ends up being lonely, and at times, getting beat up by the other cocks. Leaving him even more confused. Sometimes, he gets lucky, which reinforces his bullying approach. Today, he jumped one of the other roosters, tried to mate with him, and left him stunned and scared.

I am not a great fan of religions. Religions as in “paternalistic systems that limits the individual perception of the Divine”. Religions have rules that can be good guidelines. The ten commandments of Christianity, the Noble Eightfold Path of Buddhism, the Five Pillars of Islam … read in context, these can give inspiration to a good life.

However, once you try to control the flow of the Infinite with rules not founded in divine inspiration, you are on a dangerous path.

IMHO, love is love. “Homosexuality is a mortal sin” is put forward as a truth in some religions. This came about in ancient times when each tribe, whether Christian or Muslim, needed to grow. The world has changed.

The Greeks spoke of Theophilia. The love of God, today often seen as a reciprocal process. We love God, and God loves us.

In her article, “Mindful Sex, Divine Sexuality”, Julie Peters writes: “Being in an act of sex isn’t the same thing as being connected to our sacred sexuality. The wrong kind of sex can actually suppress that powerful but tender aspect of ourselves. When we have sex to perform, to please, or to placate, we are not honoring the divine aspects of our sexuality. When we forget to experience pleasure, to follow our sensual energy deeper into our physical and emotional selves, we are not experiencing our sexuality as powerful but merely pornographic. An important question arises from this paragraph: “What is the wrong kind of sex?”.

Some people seem to seek pleasure in the forbidden. The taboos. And they delve deeper and deeper into the shadows; same as can be seen in p*rn addiction. Your experience of pleasure is obviously not a good gauge.

I believe that you must reach for the stillness. Close your eyes and think back … when was the first time you felt that sacred, vibrant cord that connected you with another being? That made you feel alive, seen, loved, cherished, nourished, held, contained and … maybe even worshipped?

THAT moment. There is your Divine Sexuality. The one that leads to unconditional love and sacred moments of bliss.

Don’t be a Cock. Be a human, and remember: hūmānum est errāre. Sometimes we step off the path, we fail, and we must make a few quick steps to get back. Don’t beat yourself up. To err is human, to fix your errors divine.
