The United States Department of Energy is helping consumers find HVACR professionals that are Energy Skilled™ Recognized. HVACR educators and trainers can offer the HVAC Excellence exams that lead to Energy Skill recognition.

What is Energy Skilled™?

Energy Skilled professionals have undergone specialized training, passed recognized certification exams, or both, to demonstrate their knowledge of advanced heat pump technologies. This program empowers consumers to identify professionals who possess the expertise to install next-generation heat pump systems.

To simplify this process, the Department of Energy has partnered with major search engines, making it easier to locate companies employing Energy Skilled professionals.

Why Offer HVAC Excellence Certifications?

If you are not already offering the HVAC Excellence Certifications, now is the perfect time to explore this opportunity. These certifications not only validate students/technician retained knowledge but also prepare them to meet the growing demand for Energy Skilled professionals. 

For Current Proctors:

If you’re already offering the certification exams, you can continue with the current exams at present, but we strongly encourage you to transition to the updated version as soon as possible. The updated certification aligns with the Competency and Task List which was updated to include competencies developed by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), a United States Department of Energy Laboratory.
