You know what the BT Switch Off is, don't you?

You know what the BT Switch Off is, don't you?

If you don’t, then read on as it will affect your business.

Traditional phone lines (ISDN and PSTN business lines) are no longer available for new installations and BT is switching them off between now and up until 2025. This means if your company is still using any of these for your phone system, security alarm, PDQ machines or broadband, you WILL need to take action. Otherwise, you risk losing your valuable business telephone number that all your customers know as well as your broadband connection etc.

But I have until 2025, right?

Yes, but there are still 3 million of these lines in service and little more than 20 months to get them changed to an IP solution. That is going to cause a huge bottleneck. We have already seen lengthy delays from the network in installing new fibre connections to businesses and this will only get worse. So, 2023 is the time to act, as we predict the last 12 months of 2024 will see longer lead times to get an alternative solution in place.

I've heard about the PSTN Switch Off but what’s the alternative?

It's called Voice over the Internet (VoIP) and it has many advantages over traditional landlines. Scalability - It grows with your business and adjusts to your needs. Flexibility - It doesn’t tie you to a physical location. Cost-effectiveness - There are no initial and ongoing maintenance costs. Future-proof - It won’t become obsolete for a long time. It’s time to start planning your move to the future of business communications ― the longer you wait, the more opportunities you’ll miss.

Don’t leave it until the last minute and be forced into making a panic buy or risk losing service.

MFTS can give you advice and tips on what your business may need. There is no off-the-shelf product, which means we can build a system to your requirements. The BT phasing out of ISDN and PSTN needs your attention in 2023!
