Are You "Lucky" in Sales?

Are You "Lucky" in Sales?

There is absolutely no doubt that Samuel Goldwyn had the Salesperson in mind when he said “ I  am a great believer in luck. The harder I work, the more of it I seem to have. “ I have always kept this belief in mind as I grinded through my sales day the last 20+ years. I found that if worked my tail end off every day, unexpected opportunities just seemed to find me.

Think about what your daily life as a sales person looks like. If you follow a consistent sales plan and prospect EVERYDAY for new opportunities, you will give yourself more chances to gain new customers. Every moment you get to be in front of the customer to build rapport, have valuable conversations, listen to their challenges, and talk about where they are now compared to where they want to be, you will create more “lucky” opportunities for the customer to say “yes.” It is this grinding diligence and consistency of your daily sales activities that will create more moments for “luck” to come about.

Listen folks, you can’t count on “luck” when you are building your sales plan. There is absolutely no way to factor “luck” in when giving your forecast. I know the one and only thing you can count on is you and what you do every day to build business. Trust and follow your sales process. Consistently execute it day after day. Block out time to prospect. Knock on Doors. Pound the phones. Work daily to create new sales opportunities. Follow up. Be prepared. Be responsive.  Bring real value. The good things will happen. Then enjoy your so-called “luck” when it appears. Happy Selling!
