You might notice the massive smile on my face in this picture : )

When some friends asked me to be their wedding photographer, I couldn’t say ‘Yes!’ fast enough. Normally, I like to stay in the sidelines or behind the camera, but they insisted on getting a picture of their official photographer too! ; )

The family brought the big gold frame to capture all wedding guests, and this was a great opportunity - not only to capture all the guests in this way on camera, but also to not miss out meeting everyone at the event (the most difficult part for a photographer)!

But the real reason for my huge smile is because I am following my passion and I have my Nikon SLR in my hands again : )

Photography has been in my blood from a young age - at 12, I borrowed my father’s Minolta SLR and started taking picture after picture… Aged 13, I started to develop my own black & white negatives and print the photos in a darkroom.

By 20, I was studying fine art & photography in Amsterdam, Berlin, Australia and South Africa and went on to support and document social projects in South Africa and others around the world, as well as shooting at a few events and for friends in Europe. My passion for photography never goes away.

I enjoy focusing on details, zooming in on moments - showing both the greater picture and the tiny elements that make it matter.

And now, this is also how I work with conferences and events - seeing the event as a whole, but still focusing on the small things, the people, the layout, the processes, and every detail. I sharpen what matters and blur out everything unnecessary.

I’m always framing the scene, making sure people are seen in the best light, setting the stage for someone to show their insights, but always staying behind the scenes myself. In the audience, you can’t see me, & if everything goes right you’ll never need to, but I’m there ; )

This is what VOBE is all about - using the personal viewpoint, the creative touch, finding solutions from a different angle and being unique. But at the same time allowing others to shine and never getting in the way. Just like a great photographer.
