YOU Are One in a Million

Heartfelt congratulations to my Northwell Health colleagues and friends for your recognition with a One In A Million Award. Multiplying Good, a nonprofit that highlights acts of service, is honoring you.

Why should be no mystery. Your commitment and sacrifice has always been remarkable, but you outdid yourselves earlier this year during the Covid-19 surge in New York. Ultimately, you cared for 77,000 people--including 17,000 inpatients. That’s more than any other US health system during that time.

Everyone--clinicians, caregivers and behind-the-scenes coworkers--worked through and beyond exhaustion to help those in crisis.

You quickly added 2,000 beds throughout Northwell--expanding our capacity by 50 percent. Professionals in our Core Lab worked 24/7 to open New York's first Covid-testing lab, processing hundreds of thousands of tests, and helped NY State to set up satellite testing sites. And you served as surrogate family for quarantined inpatients by connecting them with loved ones via FaceTime and other countless kindnesses.

I’ll never forget what I witnessed this year, and neither should you. You deserve to feel very, very proud of yourselves.
