Are you running the same ole story in your head?
Ok, this was it - and I knew that the only way I was going to get through it in any calm and sensible way - and that was to change the story in my head.
🛠️ THE HERNIA REPAIR 🛠️
Yep. That was it.
The date was in the diary 14 June 1230.
❝ A simple procedure, Anne - 30 minutes, that’s all it’ll take - you’ll be in and out in the same day, ❞ reassured the surgeon (who, by the way, looked about 15).
Now what you don’t know, is that anything medical related has me feeling quite sick - I can't even watch Casualty - I’m pretty useless in that department - so I knew I needed to get a grip on this one.
SO I CHANGED THE STORY IN MY HEAD
Yep. That’s what I did.
I knew that our brains believe ANYTHING and EVERYTHING we tell it - so I decided to tell it something different.
I switched it up to be all about the positives of having the hernia repair - how it was going to change my life - medical science today is JUST AMAZING, and the 15 year old surgeon knows EXACTLY what he’s doing🤣
AND GUESS WHAT?

He knew EXACTLY what he was doing☺️ - and I was surprisingly calm in the days leading up to it and even on the day itself.
I surprised myself.
It actually worked!
SO MAYBE THERE ARE STORIES IN YOUR HEAD THAT NEED SWITCHING UP TOO!
Just do it.
Change it.
And you know the stories I’m referring to….
⛔️ I can’t post on LinkedIn consistently - it takes too much time
⛔️ I’m not experienced/good enough to charge that
⛔️ Nobody wants to hear what I’ve got to say, so I won’t put myself forward for that talk/workshop
We’ve all got those stories - CHANGE THEM!
And see what happens!
Until next time
