Are you too, a bit lost about how to make 2022 different than 2021?
Well, I know a lot about goal setting and creating habits to reach them. But do I practice, what I preach?
This is what happened to me a week ago.
I sat down with a white paper and pen. Yes, I still use paper and pen. Because I am old-school 🐱🐉in that matter, and additionally, because research proves that we understand things better if we write them down, and they remain longer in our memory than if we type them.
IF we write down.
I was sitting there, confused, where to start? How to make 2022 better than 2021? What does “better” even mean to mean? What are my goals? So many ideas. Overwhelmingly many ideas.🥴
I took a breath in and out and focused on what matters most. It`s not, what was wrong about 2021. It`s what was right about it.
What did I do exactly?
I split my paper into 3 parts. First, I wrote down “my mental and physical wellbeing”. Because, especially for 2022, I want it to be a separate and priority category. And I kindly suggest you do the same. Then added “private” and “professional” to the list.
Next, I asked myself 3 following questions:
🟡What did I enjoy last year?
🟡What worked well for me?
Recommended by LinkedIn
🟡What made me energized?
For example, biking to the farthest Starbucks at the end of the beach made me energized. I loved to work on the 5-day-challenge online program for creating new habits. I had the best time with twins in Dinopark, together with friends who have kids of similar age.
The last step - I was considering the ways, how can I do MORE of it.
👉More of biking, brisk walk, yoga.
👉More supporting people.
👉More of a fun time with family and friends.
And that is the, let`s call it, guideline for my goals of 2022, to make it different.
On a side note. Important one.
Your goals are not and must not be set in stone!
A week later, on purpose, I took another white paper and did the same thing again. This time additionally, I picked up a priority, where to start. And decided on clear steps how to get there.
This week I will practice what I have committed to, and see, what adjustments are needed. To make sure, my new habit fits into my life well, considering all aspects of it. Availability, other commitments, family.
📢Don`t take your goals too seriously. Put them down on paper and then focus on the process! Be flexible. Enjoy!🤸♀️
