Are you using your gifts in your business?

Are you using your gifts in your business?

Something that I work with women on all the time is 𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝, 𝐨𝐫 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞.

At one point, they were passionate about their business and they loved everything they were doing.

They were happy, using their natural gifts, and really flourishing as a person. I’m sure we can all relate to that excitement & that feeling when you are doing what you love.

𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒏 growth happens, which is great! But that's where you have to start stepping in and taking care of things, that aren’t really your gifts, but they have to get done.

Taking care of the fulfillment, making sure the customer has what they need spending time on development, whatever else. A lot of people get to the point where they say, “Man, this business that I started, where I used to be getting joy and feeling fulfillment, I now feel like 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜'𝗺 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘁, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙂𝙤𝙙 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙜𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙙𝙤. I don't even get to do those things anymore.”

So today, I want to talk to you about something that's called the 80/20 rule.

I'm sure that we've heard this a lot about customers where 20% of your customers actually provide 80% of your sales. While true, that’s not what I’m referencing here.

This is the 80/20 rule for you as a person with your time.

There's always going to be stuff as a business owner that you have to do that just sucks, right?

Stuff that’s not fun, and that you don't really enjoy doing. But it just has to be done.

That stuff's not going to go away. But unfortunately, what I see a lot of business owners doing is taking those tasks and making that 80% of what they do every day.

And only 20% (or sometimes less) is stuff that they do that they actually enjoy.

If you are spending 80% of your day doing things that you aren’t passionate about, that God did not create as your purpose for you today… how do you think you are going to feel after a while?

𝗗𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗺, 𝗳𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝗼𝘆, 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, the list goes on!

Most of the time those feelings are so strong, that people don’t even know exactly why they are feeling that way.  And they start to look for an escape!

This is something where I see a lot of people end up wanting to sell or step out of the business bringing in partners and walk out because they 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲.

I mean, if you're doing 80% of what you do every day, and let's face it, entrepreneurs, we know, you're not just working eight hours a day. So if 80% of what you do is the stuff that 𝙨𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙮𝙤𝙪 that you don't enjoy, you are going to be feeling a lack of joy, and fun and excitement in your life, of course.

And don’t think this doesn’t have an impact on your personal life!

So what can you do?

It’s time to flip the script!

We want to take your day, and reformat your day into 80% of what you do is the stuff that you actually enjoy and that you're good at and that you have been called to do by God.

And 20% then is the stuff that just has to get done. Maybe payroll or whatever else that you just don’t enjoy, but it has to get done.

So when you're thinking about this, especially for women, women business owners, entrepreneurs, you're still managing your household, you're still taking care of paying the bills, going to the grocery, cooking dinner, doing the laundry, cleaning the house, the list goes on…

In addition to running your business and taking care of you!

So when we are looking at flipping the script & turning your day into 80% of the things you do being things you love, or that God gifted you to do, you want to be sure to also be looking at your home life, not just business.

Step 1, figure out how much you're worth on an hourly basis based on your revenue. This is going to be different for every single person, but I promise you every single person watching this is worth at least 20 to $30 an hour.

Now, I want you to start looking at the tasks that you are doing right now that could be a $10 an hour job.

Trust me, you are doing things RIGHT NOW, that you could pay someone $10/hour to do.

Once you have identified those tasks, what I want you to do…. OUTSOURCE those!

Get them off of your calendar.

There's nothing more freeing than taking something that you hate doing anyway and delegating it to someone else.  Or deciding this doesn't even deserve to be on my calendar, or anyone else's.

So identify those things that are $10 an hour jobs, and hire someone else to do those.

Examples, your grocery shopping for you, someone to do your laundry, running errands, etc.

Once you have delegated the $10/hour tasks, then move on $15/hour.

What are you doing right now that's a $15 an hour job?

How about cleaning your house? Cooking your meals. Sorting & filtering your emails.  Managing a Facebook group or handling Facebook Messenger. Answering client calls.

Delegate those things to someone else, hire it out, do what you’ve got to do! It will be worth it.

The next thing I want you to do is to make a list of things that you love to do in life.

Now, those things might not be things that you are actively doing.

This can be business or personal, it doesn’t matter.

Now, each month, I challenge my clients to incorporate one thing from this list into their schedule.

So I would challenge you to do that as well. What's something you love to do that you don't get to do right now. And maybe scratching off one of these items. It's a $10 an hour job or a $15 an hour job that you have delegated now, you'll have time for something more.

Lastly, look at where you are most productive in your day. For me, it's early in the morning. So as soon as I get up, have my quiet time, I exercise and I get ready for my day.

Then I get right to work knocking out the most important things.

Time block your most productive time & keep it blocked!

Don't let anybody in that space. That is the time that you need, as a business owner to start doing the most important things.

So if you do these few things I mentioned, I promise you, you will feel so much better each day because you have eliminated things that are on your schedule right now that suck life from you.

You've hired things out, you're starting to flip your calendar to look more like 80% of things that you enjoy 20% of things that you maybe don't.

You're scheduling something that you enjoy doing. You know, the hours of the day that you are most productive. So you have those blocked, so no one else will interfere with that time and you're going to get stuff done.

So switch that dread and overwhelm to feeling productive and confident and using the gifts that God gave you in your business.  No longer dread that alarm clock going off but wake up excited to get back into the business. Have a blessed day and I'll see you on the next video.
