Are you and your team already augmentelligent?

Human Intelligence Augmentation is the deeper meaning of my work. The term "Human Intelligence Augmentation" was coined in 1962 by Douglas Engelbart. Yet the technology to make it a reality was not available back then. Today we can achieve human intelligence augmentation without drilling holes in the brain, consuming drugs, or needing hypnosis.

An old dream to acquire knowledge comes true

The Nuremberg Funnel

The Nuremberg Funnel (Nürnberger Trichter) is a century-old dream to get knowledge in our brains. It's similar to signage eating Poppey or the wonder drinks of Obelix, the dreams of Ikarus, and many others. We overcame almost all of those physical and muscle-driven limitations of our bodies by building machines. Machines augmented our physical limitations of running, flying, swimming, diving, lifting, and so forth by building machines that empowered us to cross oceans not swimming but even more comfortable with boats. Flying around the world not by adding mega wings and muscles but super fast by planes. We can lift 50 tons 25 meters high by sitting in a crane and using a joystick to make even maneuvers. Muscle "augmentation" made us enormously powerful and our intelligence allowed us to think, design, construct, and build all those tools. Democratizing muscle power changed humanity like nothing before. Now what's next?

Human Intelligence Augmentation

Why not do the same thing with our intelligence?

Who is the strongest? It really doesn't matter anymore. Only those who abused their muscle power lost. But as a species, we won. Imagine we can do the same with our brains. Also here lower educated people will not lose but those who abused undereducated people.

Are we all equal?

No - we are not. But we are all born with the same number of brain cells. And as we grow we are all having approx. 87 Billion brain cells, and approx. 4 Trillion synapsis, and the ability to wire those cells to extremely powerful networks (numbers depend on whom you ask). Some people are top-notch at school and grow into great business positions. Others are latecomers who develop their brains at a later stage in their life. But because of our education system may never be able to unfold their full potential. Some people have a hard time learning at all but still absorb what their interest is in no time and rise with that knowledge surpassing most experts. Hence - we are not equal. But we DO NEED to have equal chances.

Becoming an augmentelligent person

An augmentelligent person needs only one thing to figure out: What is their talent and what is it that they love doing more than anything else? Human Intelligence Augmentation can help them acquire the knowledge they need for any task in an instant. Of course, they won't have it in their brain but in one of their AI agents. Openness is the key attitude humans need to develop. Today it is AI, tomorrow it may be biocomputing, and the next day human sensor augmentation. Evolution never stops.

Regular Employees

Whatever the normal job is it can be greatly supported by artificial intelligence. And those augmentelligent people would not lose their jobs but could do much more of what they like anyway and delegate everything they find boring or they have stress to execute to an AI. Less repeat work means more time for customers, ideas, improvements, and most importantly things that they could not do today.

Top Managers

Highly intelligent people and those with a sound level of responsibility and dealing with complex situations can augment their intelligence to new heights. They can learn to solve hyper-complex situations in no time. They can observe a global market, customers, competitors, partners, new trends, the economy on a daily base and make decisions faster than any human ever could do.

Artists

A musician will get inspired by an AI Agent to new music composition much faster than ever before. And even those, who never made great music in the first place can win if only they love it. Painting artists are considered creative because of the duality of manual craftsmanship and their creative mind. Now those who do not have the manual sensitivity but have amazing ideas for a new painting can join the party.

Researchers

Market / Technology / Social ... Research is a painful job for intelligent people but is part of the job. One needs to understand the past to develop the future, is no news. But the actual work to find out what is already researched, then study it, finding similarities and differences can be delegated to an AI. Then the AI can inspire with ideas and the researchers can - again - do far more and more interesting work at the same time.

Intelligence started around 1500 B.C.

For the longest time of Homo Sapience, it was unknown what that wobbly mass in our head was good for. Our "knowledge" seemed to come from our hearts. It took 374,000 of the 375,000 years of our existence to learn about intelligence for the first time. But only 1,500 years to augment it.

Augmentelligent

Augmentelligent is a new adjective that describes a person's combined intellectual capability when using their own and artificial intelligence.

That means an augmentelligent person needs access to 'Agentic AI' and very rudimentary knowledge of how to use it. Since using Agentic AI is as easy as asking a question, like "How do I use Agentic-AI", there is no lengthy education necessary to start.

Elderly employees who have been trained to follow processes, not experiment, and do what they are told to do, will need some additional guidance.

While Agentic-AI can be considered dangerous in certain environments, it is also the breakthrough that makes "Human Intelligence Augmentation" possible.

Nice article! The new augmented intelligence paradigm will redefine education, work, and creativity. Unlocking latent potential across all age groups and professions, wow! However, the real challenge lies in the adoption. Clear goals will be essential to ensure meaningful outcomes and equitable access to AI: "What do I want augmentelligent for?"

AI could revolutionize my hobby by taking over the technical aspects of music production and letting me focus on creativity.
