Your brain creates better ideas when you’re tired.
Yes, you read it right!
Contrary to the popular beliefs, you might find more luck with ideas when you are tired. So next time whenever you are planning your tomorrow's schedule, try not to make the usual assumption that let's do our brainstorming first thing in the day because all of us would have a fresh mind at that point in time.
It's a scientifically proven fact that if we’re tired, our brain is not as good at filtering out the distractions (around us) and focusing on a particular task too. It’s also a lot less efficient at remembering the existing connections between ideas or concepts, hence becomes more predisposed to discovering the newer connections.
With Diwali vacations breaking, my daughters got an extended day today. Just a while back (at around 1 AM IST), my elder twin came in our room to say Good Night and grabbed the newest and the most comfortable seat at our place! We never needed an office chairs at our home, but thanks to the ongoing WFH saga, we needed to buy one. My daughters were super excited to see me doing the DIY assembling of the same in the day.
This is how typically the ideation process works. You observe. You inject the information. You let the thoughts simmer. You let the ideas incubate. And you produce them at the time you are expecting them the least!
What brilliant idea she came up with. And here I'm not considering her age at all. This in general could be such a wonderful innovation in the aviation industry. Between Business class and Economy class, sandwich a new class of seating - The Leisure Class! The seating that lets you move 360*. The class that allows you to talk face-to-face with your co-passenger. These would become hot seats for the passengers travelling in pairs.
If an airlines tomorrow offers such seats to me, I wouldn't mind paying a premium for it - Simply for the experience of it! It's a different matter that I'll choose not to fly till the time I get vaccinated for our friend #Covid19!
