Be Your Own Lights in 2022
As we stepped into the beginning of 2022, it’s always good to reflect, review, realign our plans and actions but do you know your own “Lights”?
What does the phrase “Be Your Own Lights” mean to you and can you relate to it easily? Generally speaking, with the way we were grown up, we tend to focus more towards our weaknesses but not our own strengths. Actually, manage your weakness and shift the focus towards leverage your own strengths to me is the way forward especially under the new normal!
The Light exists in every human being, and it can be kindled by self-realization. The Light is from within and self-awaken. In my personal view, Your Lights mean your inner potentials and strengths, a self discovery process which needs to be constantly reminded, nurtured, mastered. Wonder what’s my Lights? To me, My Lights is Inspiring Others.
The story of My Lights started when I joined Toastmasters 10 years ago where I started learning Public Speaking. Time flies and I still remember the first time when I gave my first Ice Breaking speech in my home Toastmasters Club. Initially I was inspired by listening to different Speakers’ stories and styles. Then gradually I was more comfortable sharing my own stories with inclusion of Inspirational elements and call for actions. Surprisingly, over the time, more and more positive feedbacks received from the audience which strengthened my desire of being an Inspirational Speaker and hopefully one day I can be on the international TED stage!

Throughout my journey in achieving Distinguished Toastmaster recognition (DTM), I had opportunities to inspire others through Speeches; Workshops; Youth Leadership Programs etc. Over the last decade in my personal development journey, I also joined various NGOs such as Junior Chamber International- a Leadership Development Organization; Synergy Association International- an Entrepreneurial and Community Services organization etc where I had multiple opportunities to inspire others through involving in different types of community projects; delivering Workshops; Giving Presentations etc and I am truly thankful. Till today, I am an active citizen and a strong believer in Lifelong learning and giving which keeps me motivated, enlightened, fulfilled.
As an Aspiring Trainer; Coach; Consultant, I suddenly realized that these 3 roles have one thing in common- to Inspire others! Its my passion and life mission to continue inspiring more people and leave a legacy behind.
Everyone has their own lights to positively impact the world. If you have not found yours yet, take some time today to reflect your own potentials. If you are unsure, try to ask 3-5 of your family members; friends; colleagues from their observation for your own reflection. If you have already found your Lights, keep nurturing, and proactively help others to find theirs.
To conclude, I strongly believe Life influences life and it can be a multiplier effect. Don’t underestimate how your Lights can positively impact people around you; your society and even the World! Finding Your Light is a journey and its never ending. Keep Exploring; Shining; Being Someone’s Light and focus like a Magnifying glass. Good Luck!
