Your rearview mirror is bigger than your windscreen for a reason but...
So as I round out 2023 I find myself stuck at home with the second round of COVID and figured I might as well take the opportunity to reflect on where I have been and where I am going.
To be fair I often do this time of year and it is a really good exercise to avoid getting caught up in the culture of complaint. Step One commit to not complaining for 30 days, it is human nature to get caught up when you are tired and fatigued in complaining about what you aren't happy with in life and business but the reality is it is a complete waste of energy. Far better to list down all the things you weren't happy with or didn't like in 2022 in life and business and then put together a plan of attack to change them all in 2023.
So this is where I am at now, clarity around what's in the rearview mirror and clarity around what I can see in the windscreen and that is a pretty powerful place to be.
Step Two is to write out and schedule a To-Do List for Change. We all know that what gets into the diary gets done so you need to go beyond simply writing a list of action items, they need to be measurable, in bite-sized pieces, and in the diary.
I was lucky enough to see Ron Kaufman speak while I was in Singapore.
He talked about the six levels of service being on an escalator and it always going down because the unbelievable of yesterday invariably becomes the expected of tomorrow and it really got me thinking about this in the context of not just my clients but also my networks and how I support them. What's more I really started looking at how I move those escalators across the four categories of value that Ron spoke about.

It's another great exercise to do as you reflect on 2022 and move into 2023. To that end I have revamped all of the events I open up for my networks with changes to the Not A Boardroom Lunch series and The Publican's Table. What's more BNI Adelaide North's events for 2023 are going to be epic with a Current Leaders meet Future Leaders series of Events for International Networking Week as well as a new group forming in Port Lincoln and Salisbury.
So if you are reading this and want to be part of my close networks in 2023, reach out, lets catch up and we will all rock the finish line for 2023 together.
