Your responsibilities as a Tier 4 student !
UKVI Automatic Reporting
From April 2013, a dedicated UKVI team has been appointed to specifically conduct Tier 4 visits. Reporting is as important as monitoring, with a perimeter of 10 consecutive absences for Tier 4 students to be reported immediately.
tdsstudent is a real time Student Attendance Monitoring and Engagement Platform and complies with UKVI reporting requirements, completely automating the process and thus reducing the administrative burden while ensuring your University is fully compliant with legislation and ready for any UKVI inspection or audit.
Poor attendance and engagement: what are the consequences?
For international students (Tier 4) who fall into one of these categories, a final verification will be carried out prior to notifying absence to UKVI: once a student has received final notification relating to their unsatisfactory attendance, the University has just 10 days to notify UKVI that the student has withdrawn or been excluded. A final check will be made with the School to ensure the information is correct and that the student has either withdrawn voluntarily or has been excluded.Reporting a student to the Home Office’s UKVI is a serious step, it can lead to the curtailment of the visa and a requirement to leave UK. If you do not respond to attempts by the School to contact and support you, and if you still fail to attend and engage investigations by the School may be necessary to determine whether you are otherwise progressing with your programme. In the light of any relevant information, it will be decided by the School whether a more formal discussion with a Personal Tutor or Supervisor is merited. At this stage, for a Tier 4 student, a reiteration of the Tier 4 sponsor/student relationship would be made, together with a discussion of the requirement to report exclusion through non-attendance.
The final stage is where you have consistently missed contact points or your attendance/ engagement or progress more widely is at a level deemed unacceptable. In such cases, an appropriate Head of College or delegated officer (for example a Dean) will consider your overall progression in relation to academic policies.
When a Tier 4 visa is granted, UKVI expect that you will attend your study. If you withdraw from your study, you are not attending and the University must tell UKVI. This means that UKVI will cancel your visa and you will have to return home.
