Your Story Matters: Discover, Define and Share Your Unique Journey
Before we get into it, I want you to take a moment, pause, and contemplate. Have you ever asked yourself: "What's my story?" If you haven't, it's about time we have this conversation.
Since the dawn of mankind, stories have been interwoven into the very fabric of our existence. Our ancestors, like the Aboriginal community, used storytelling as a tool for wisdom, education, and tradition. Each tale told became a thread in the rich tapestry of their heritage. Your story, like theirs, is more than just a sequence of events - it's a guide, a map, and a blueprint.
But why does your story matter so much? I’ll tell you. I lost my dad when I was just four years old. He was only 39. The void his absence left in my heart is matched by the void of his untold stories. There were so many things I wanted to learn about him, so many stories I wished he'd shared. It's that painful longing that reminds me - and hopefully you too - how important it is to discover and share our own stories. Not just for us, but for those who matter to us as well.
Unearthing Your Story
In finding your story, there are some key components you should consider.
Values
Think about what you stand for, what moves you, what principles guide your actions. What are your boundaries, the lines you've drawn in the sand that you won't cross? Identifying your values is like setting a compass; they are your direction, your North Star.
Passions
What sets your soul on fire? What are those things that you could talk about for hours without losing enthusiasm? Identifying your passions gives your story its intensity, its vibrant colours.
Moments
Reflect on the significant moments in your life. What events have shaped you into who you are today? What lessons have you learnt from these experiences? Your life moments, good or bad, are the chapters in your book, the highlights and turning points of your unique journey.
Strengths
What are you genuinely good at? What skills or talents have you developed that make you, ‘you’? Your strengths, honed over time, are your superpowers, the special abilities that differentiate you from the crowd.

Dreams
Lastly, what are your hopes for the future? What legacy do you want to create? Your dreams are the climax of your story, the crescendo, the part that makes your audience (and you) sit on the edge of their seats, eager for more.
The Power of "Tell Me Your Story?"
Whenever I meet new people, I skip the usual "How are you?" Instead, I ask, "Tell me your story?" The difference it makes is astounding. Instead of bland conversation fillers, I’m gifted with rich narratives that help me truly understand and connect with others.
So, why not try it?
Over to you
Now comes the most crucial part. I challenge you to sit down and take some time to explore your story using the points we discussed. Don’t rush it, take your time. Your story isn’t a race, it’s a journey, and it's one worth taking.
Because your story matters, friend. More than you may realise. It can inspire, guide, and comfort those around you, leaving an indelible mark.
So, will you rise to the challenge? Will you discover and share your story? I promise, the world is eager to hear it. Don’t hold back, dive in, let your narrative soar, and always remember - you have a story worth telling.
