Is your workplace SAFE?
Broken to Safe Panel - Launch on 10 June 2024 in Sydney

Is your workplace SAFE?

I'm thrilled to share all the highlights and the full powerhouse panel discussion at the Broken to Safe book launch HERE and invite you to join the #notonmywatch movement we have started to ensure workplaces are not only legally compliant, but a SAFE place where humans thrive.

Hosted by Angela Priestley Women's Agenda, the raw and insightful panel discussion at the launch featured some of the most accomplished and inspiring women driving the conversation around gender equity, safety and inclusion in Australia including:

  • Catherine Fox AM speaker, author of 5 books including “Stop Fixing Women” and former AFR 'Corporate Woman' columnist who was interviewed for Broken to Safe and provided key insights on gender equity and flexible working including to address women’s health issues and care responsibilities throughout their life cycle. Catherine made further observations about the the lack of progress of women into leadership and the alarming levels of backlash by younger men based on research she has undertaken for her 6th book coming soon!
  • Lisa Annese, CEO of Diversity Council Australia Ltd who was interviewed for Broken to Safe and provides an insightful analysis of DCAs research on what makes workplaces inclusive, the benefits inclusion brings and a fascinating look into intersectional issues relating to race and social class, including its role in addressing backlash.
  • Marina Go AM, independent chair and non-executive director and author of Breakthrough who provided an extremely generous endorsement for Broken to Safe provided a look behind the curtain on issues keeping boards and leaders up at night and how to develop a trust relationship between CEOs, leaders and boards which is necessary to ensure humans are safe.
  • Georgie Dent, CEO of The Parenthood and author of Breaking Badly whose contribution and advocacy has led the national conversation on the need for flexible workplaces, paid parental leave and quality accessible and affordable child care for all families. Her advocacy regarding the structural problems Australia is facing and the structural solutions required to address them are truly illuminating. Georgie observes these solutions are not only necessary to ensure parents can properly participate in the workforce and progress into leadership roles, but to ensure women in particular are safe, not only at work, but in our communities.

The stories shared by these incredible women of toxic workplaces they have endured were harrowing. Their insight on the root causes of gender equity, violence against women, psycho-social hazards and burnout are borne from years of research, advocacy and experience.

The call to action is compelling

Broken to Safe comes at a critical time. Too many workplaces remain riddled with fear, toxicity and burnout. In a world where leaders are overwhelmed by the burden of compliance, personal liability, and increasing scrutiny by regulators and the media, Broken to Safe emerges as a crucial guide for leaders dedicated to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
