The YouthBoostHB Journey to Mount Abu: A Shower of Learnings in the Mountains

The YouthBoostHB Journey to Mount Abu: A Shower of Learnings in the Mountains

The Mountains Are Calling

There’s something about mountains that calls to you—it might be the fresh air, the peaceful quiet, or maybe the promise of a good cup of chai after a long drive. 🏞️ So, when we planned our YouthBoostHB session at Mount Abu, it wasn’t just about escaping work for a day. It was about stepping back, reflecting, and growing as a team.

Mount Abu, known for its beauty during monsoons, is a quiet hill station, just five hours from our city. 🌧️ But here’s the thing: our real journey started way before we even got there!

Lessons From an Unexpected Mentor

It was 5 a.m., and let’s just say our excitement level might have woken up half the neighborhood! 😅 But there stood our company building's sleepy security guard, smiling as if he had signed up for the trip too. Little did I know that he would give me the first lesson of the day.

Despite our chaos, he quietly went and bought tea for everyone. Can you believe it? Not only that, but when we tried to pay him, he refused. This simple act of kindness set the tone for the entire trip—positivity, generosity, and warmth. It was the kind of start that told me this trip was going to be more than just another team-building activity.

The Hill and the Villa: Finding Balance in Leadership

Let’s be honest—we didn’t exactly “climb” a mountain. There was no trekking involved. 😅 We took the practical route: a car. And soon, we reached the villa that would be our home for the day.

Sometimes, leadership isn’t about doing things the hard way—it’s about finding balance and saving your energy for what matters. As we wound through the roads of Mount Abu, I realized that, much like in leadership, you need to know when to push forward and when to let others take the lead. Each member of our team brought something different to the table, and this trip reminded me that leadership is about adapting to that uniqueness, like finding your way through those curvy roads. 🛣️

The Hidden Side of Our Team

Out of the office and away from the regular routine, I saw a side of the team that often remains hidden. Everyone was more relaxed, open, and full of life. 😄 From the constant jokers to the quiet leaders who stepped up when needed, it was clear that there were layers to these people that we don’t always see during a regular workday.

And the most heartwarming part? How much they cared for each other. During the road trip, a couple of team members weren’t feeling too well, but the way others took care of them—with patience and understanding—showed me what real teamwork looks like. It’s not always about deadlines and KPIs. Sometimes, it’s about simply showing up for each other when it counts. ❤️

Leading Quietly: Power in the Background

Here’s something I learned: leadership doesn’t always mean being the loudest voice or standing at the front of the line. Sometimes, the best leadership happens quietly, from the background. In fact, I blended in with the team so well that in some group photos, I’m practically invisible! 😂 And that’s a good thing.

It gave me the chance to watch how the team interacted without any of the usual formalities. I got to see who stepped up, who listened, and how the group naturally worked together. Sometimes, the best thing a leader can do is step aside and let the team shine. 🌟

When Care Becomes the Culture

Something else stood out to me during the trip—the natural way everyone took care of each other. From sharing snacks on the drive to making sure no one felt left out during our Truth-and-Dare session (yes, that happened! 😂), the sense of camaraderie was undeniable.

It’s moments like these that remind me that work isn’t just about results. It’s about building a culture where people feel comfortable enough to ask for help, not just from their leaders but from each other. That mutual support was so clear during this trip, and I couldn’t have been more proud. 🙌

Guiding the Next Generation

The younger members of our team brought a burst of energy to the trip, and while that energy is fantastic, it sometimes needs a bit of guidance. That’s where I realized my role: not to stifle that enthusiasm but to help direct it toward the right goals. ⚡

Spending time with them outside the office gave me a whole new perspective. I saw that they weren’t just driven by perks or benefits. What mattered to them most was the sense of connection they felt with the team and the support they received from their mentors. Understanding that generational gap was key—it’s about knowing how to help shape their potential while giving them the space to grow. 🌱

Leadership Redefined: It’s About Listening

This trip also taught me a humbling lesson as a leader. While I might think I’m always available for my team, the truth is, some members may still hesitate to ask for help. Why? Not because they don’t need it, but because they might not feel comfortable enough to do so.

As leaders, it’s our job to create that environment where everyone feels they can reach out. This trip reminded me that while we often focus on the big picture, we can sometimes miss the quieter needs of our team members. And that’s where real leadership comes in—listening, observing, and being truly present. 👂

A Shower of Learnings, Not Just Rain

Mount Abu is famous for being a monsoon heaven. We expected rain but got something much better: a shower of learnings. 🌧️ From unexpected lessons, like the kindness of the security guard, to deep conversations with team members about their challenges and dreams, this trip refreshed us in more ways than we imagined.

There was a shift in energy—a collective feeling of readiness to take on challenges together. It was like watching the team evolve right in front of me. Everyone returned with a sense of pride and positivity, ready for what’s next. 💪

Conclusion: YouthBoostHB and Beyond – Where the Real Journey Begins

This trip wasn’t just about stepping away from work; it was about stepping into something greater. The connections we formed, the lessons we learned, and the energy we brought back to the office were priceless. It reinforced my belief that starting YouthBoostHB was one of the best decisions we made as a team.

For those Hidden Brains InfoTech youngsters who haven’t joined yet, I encourage you to be part of it. YouthBoostHB is more than just a group—it’s a journey, one that takes you beyond the office walls. And now, as we step back into our daily roles, I can confidently say: the real journey has only just begun. 🚀

Thank you Chirag Patel (CP) for organizing such an impactful trip and leading by example. You're truly an inspiring leader! This experience has reshaped how I view leadership and growth. A standout moment from the whole trip for me was when we discussed what made everyone stay at HB, and what continues to make them stay -- It wasn’t about perks but the real team connections, mentor support, space to make mistakes, and the opportunities to grow. I saw firsthand how a supportive leader fosters an environment where people feel empowered to learn and thrive. Listening to everyone's experiences and the wisdom you shared about your journey, your mindset and your goal, I realized that real success is about helping others grow, showing kindness, and earning rewards through hard work, not just asking for them and becoming a better human. It makes me wonder, we’re only juniors once in a lifetime, with the freedom to make mistakes, learn, and be influenced by the right mentors. As I grow, I hope to carry these lessons forward and provide the same support when I step into a senior role. I'm learning this as I go. I know it’ll help me support others just as I’ve been supported. Thanks to you for being that guiding force in our journey!
