Sora V2 ::: The Creator Economy rising ::: AI Bias 🗞️ Headlines from C21Media Content London 2024 🗞️ 🚀 🚀 🚀 Sora is mind-blowing because: 1. The uncanny valley does not exist. The performances in the demos were indistinguishable from real actors. 2. Optimal video outputs are one minute per shot. ONE MINUTE! That covers all but exceptional scenes. 3. The workflows covered are: a) Text -> Video, b) Text + Image -> Video, c) Text + Video -> Video. This means creating something from scratch, or extending scenes and adding (anything) to existing video scenes. 🚀 🚀 🚀 The Creator Economy rising As I put it on my panel, AI is the fuel, the Creator Economy is the fire that is impacting traditional media. Stars -> Influencers -> Creators AI is not all to blame here, see our SXSW London panel on this. https://lnkd.in/eSPvHJQH The Creator Economy is highlighting the difference, gap and tension between Creators and the Creative Industries. This will accelerate the fall/merge of the studios in the coming 12 months. See Publishing and Music industries for precedent. 🚀🚀🚀 Bias, Diversity, Representation, Culture & Regulation Bias is not just in data sets as we wrote about in 2018 (ItSpeaks paper). Bias is in the algorithms written by real human coders with real biases. Bias cannot be removed. It needs to be acknowledged and tracked but it cannot be eliminated. The BBC seemed to say it can, but that's an impossibility. Diversity and different cultural biases need to be increased in AI. If we all want to make better content, have inclusive stories and characters, increase our markets, audiences and have richer stories, then there's work to be done. There is not silver bullet, but perhaps hiring staff, socialising, learning and breaking bubbles is a good start. 🚀 🚀 AI is accepted in production Last year there was real animosity. This year Content London ran the first UK AI Film Festival, and AI strand, and hopefully will restart their AI Academy. @david jenkinson said that AI is one of the most significant things to happen to media since the internet, and since @21media started in the early 1990s. The vibe throughout was one of caution, but huge curiosity, interest and with a majority of people I spoke to already using AI in some form. Thank you to David Jenkinson, Odiri Iwuji, Patricia Arescy (sorry for spilling red wine on your dress!), Leanne Farrell for putting on a milestone event.
