Can microalgae be one of the solutions for a healthier Oslo fjord? 💡 Tekna Magasinet visited Norsk institutt for vannforskning (NIVA) research station at Solbergstrand and were talking to our project leader, Margarida Costa💚 Read more about the conversation and the project! #Algeco #NIVAprojects #Microalgae #Greentransition #wastewater #sustainability
Can microalgae be one of the solutions for a healthier Oslo fjord? 💡 The Oslo fjord status is critical. The increasing nitrogen levels have led to eutrophication, negatively impacting fish and other species due to oxygen depletion and sedimentation.👎 Tekna Magasinet visited the NIVA - Norsk institutt for vannforskning research station Solbergstrand south of Drøbak to see what we are working on to help solve these issues. The key: Microalgae! 💚 As you have seen in previous posts about ALGECO, we are trying to use microalgae to remove the residual nutrients from the municipal treated effluent before it can be safely released to the fjord. And as Margarida Costa said: “If we succeed in making this pilot project economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable, it could be the beginning of a true green transition in Norwegian sewage treatment plants”. 🙌🎉 Read the whole text here: https://lnkd.in/dHHS_GJP Read more about the project Algeco here: https://www.alg.eco/ #Algeco #NIVAprojects #Microalgae #Greentransition
