Yesterday, Sebastián collaborated with TampaHacks to provide the 9 attendees of game jam Counterspell Tampa in AMRoC Fablab with workshops delving into the basics of Unity game development and the foundation of collaboration with Git & GitHub. The attendees, who were mostly high schoolers, took the concepts they went over with Sebastián to enhance their game-making process and to enable the group to continue to work on their creations beyond the event. Yesterday, alongside the TampaHacks team in collaboration with Hack Club and AMRoC FabLab we hosted Counterspell Tampa: a game jam in which 9 participants got into teams to create experiences involving programming, visual design, and music composition! I was also able to represent Institute Alterna by hosting workshops on Game Development with Unity, Git, and GitHub to provide attendees a way to continue crafting their game beyond the event. Thank you Samuel Fernandez for this awesome opportunity 💪🏼 looking forward to work on more hackathons with you soon.

TampaHacks Counterspell Game Jam is underway at AMROC Fab Lab today! Counterspell is an international game jam running in 100 cities worldwide today and hosted by Hack Club, an organization supporting student-run coding groups. The event is organized and run entirely by high school students for high school students and includes student run workshops in Unity, and other game development tools. Students handled all event planning from securing their venue (us!), developing the event budget, securing funding, creating the event agenda, media and marketing, communications with participants, putting together and delivering the workshops, catering and keeping the event on schedule. We're happy and honored to host this great event at AMROC and to help showcase what students given space, time, trust and the autonomy to create things can accomplish!

🌟 Celebrating Innovation at the “Global Challenges, Local Solutions” App-A-Thon! 🌟 This past Saturday, we launched the first Global Challenges, Local Solutions App-A-Thon, in Tampa Florida. Young adults ages 13 to 22 came together to tackle pressing issues in cybersecurity and climate change through innovative, community-focused solutions. 🎉 A huge congratulations to the TampaHacks team for their winning solution, Sentris! This app is designed to bridge the gap between students aspiring to enter the world of ethical hacking and businesses eager for their talents. The participants' work exemplifies how technology can create meaningful connections and address critical challenges. 👏 We’re deeply grateful to everyone who made this event possible: 🎉 David Bourland for creating the ServiceNow Lab Instances that empowered students to bring their ideas to life. 🎉 Dila Dzhuraeva, Client Success Manager at ServiceNow, and Kevin Brooks, Chief of Staff at ServiceNow, for their unwavering support and encouragement. 🎉 Our team for planning the program and AMRoC FabLab for providing the perfect venue to foster innovation. 🎉 Vicki Gonzalez for creating the awards that celebrated participants’ hard work and creativity. A special thank you to our amazing judges: ⚖️ Tracy Ingram from Intention Technology LLC. ⚖️ Terri Willingham from AMRoC FabLab and Florida Community Driven Innovation ⚖️ Ora Tanner from Black Unicorn Education, who not only judged but also provided videography support and brought Bentley Tanner to capture the day. HCPS Career and Technical Education, Tampa Bay Hacks, Women in Tech, and the AMRoC internship team all helped to spread the word and send in youth to participate in the event. This app-a-thon was a testament to the power of collaboration, community, and innovation to tackle global challenges with local solutions. Let’s continue to innovate, build, and inspire! 🚀 #GlobalChallengesLocalSolutions #Innovation #Cybersecurity #ClimateChange #ServiceNow #WomenInTech #TampaBayHacks #AMRoC #Scoutlier #TechForGood #Collaboration

Last Saturday I had so much fun attending ServiceNow's App-A-Thon hosted at AMRoC FabLab. I had built a concept app with my team - Luke, Samuel, and Rachel - with a key focus on providing students and aspiring ethical hackers opportunities to connect with businesses of all sizes and participate in bug bounties. We were victorious and got these cool light up trophies, and a Micro-bit! Thank you so much for this opportunity. AMRoC FabLab happens to also be the location of Counterspell Tampa: an upcoming game jam by Hack Club that I'm organizing with TampaHacks next Saturday. See you until then!

Congratulations to the high school and college students who took part in today's ServiceNow App-a-thon, hosted by Scoutlier by Aecern at AMROC. With ServiceNow mentors in attendance, participants organized into teams to create application solutions around the themes of climate and cybersecurity. Teams then pitched their projects before a panel of judges including Ora Tanner of Black Unicorn Education Tracy Ingram of NeuroEM and Theresa Willingham of the Foundation for Community Driven Innovation for Community Driven Innovation , which runs AMROC. It was really fun and exciting to see the students' projects take shape and to see the ways they came up with to employ Service Now tecnology in their solutions!
