Following the announcement that Deakin University team Hexa was awarded the 2024 Autodesk Challenge Cup during the Offsite 2034 conference in August, the newly engraved trophy was presented to the team on Monday 28 October. Autodesk’s Sumit Oberoi and Damien Crough, prefabAUS visited Deakin University’s Geelong campus to meet with the team, hear about their experience through the Challenge and their future plans in the AEC industry. This Challenge is all about interdisciplinary teams working together to provide solutions utilising digital design and modern construction methods. It’s exciting to see the innovative solution that Team Hexa developed this year and we are already looking forward to what's in store for the Autodesk Challenge Cup 2025! To learn more about Team Hexa’s submission along with those of the finalist teams from Curtin University and Western Sydney University, visit https://lnkd.in/gHZfeGyq

Congratulations to Team "HEXA" from Deakin University for their win in the Autodesk Challenge Cup in 2024! The Living Bridge, a 6-story structure imagined for Western Beach Road in #Geelong, features cost-effective and eco-friendly design utilizing advanced prefabrication and modular offsite construction technologies. Built with prefabricated Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) modules and cold-formed steel, it ensures a sturdy yet adaptable structure while minimizing on-site disruptions and environmental impact. Its modular design allows residents to customize their living spaces, while biophilic elements and strategic module arrangement enhance natural light flow, energy efficiency, and thermal comfort. Congratulations also to Teams "Intersected Generations" from Curtin University and "Modular Makers" from Western Sydney University who took our second and third places respectively. The teams presented their ideas during the prefabAUS conference 𝙊𝙁𝙁𝙎𝙄𝙏𝙀 2024 in Sydney where Autodesk represented by Allan Chalmers presented their certificates and prizes. Congratulations again to all involved!
