Individuals with Context use the past to inform their present decisions. By understanding the unique history of individuals and groups, they can help build an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives. Studying the past also gives them confidence in knowing which processes, decisions and actions worked and which didn’t work. In teams and organizations, Context helps ensure that decisions are well-considered and grounded in an understanding of what has happened before. Do you have high Context? When people have the opportunity to tap into their strengths, they’re more effective, less stressed and more focused on doing their best work. Rather than seeing their job as a burden, they’re more engaged. Employees with dominant Influencing themes – themes that help people take charge, speak up and make sure others are heard – often turn to coping strategies that allow them to make an impact on others or the future when they experience burnout. They are more likely than others to spend more time with their family or friends outside of work or think about how their work contributes to their future goals. Oftentimes, instinctual burnout coping strategies may not always be the best solution. Research shows that one of the best strategies for those strong in Influencing domain (Activator, Command, Communication, Competition, Maximizer, Self-Assurance, Significance, Woo) is to think about how they may have approached similar situations before. How are you coping with burnout using Influencing strengths? https://lnkd.in/gqzzThYa

Those with dominant Relationship Building strengths (Adaptability, Connectedness, Developer, Empathy, Harmony, Includer, Individualization, Positivity and Relator) tend to reframe their work stress from the perspectives of others. They are more likely to consider how others they work with would feel about the same situation, to think about how their work affects others or to seek help from others. However, those who think about how others they work with would feel in the same situations actually experience higher levels of burnout than those who do not. Instead, Gallup research finds that a better strategy for individuals with dominant Relationship Building strengths is to think about how they have approached similar situations before. When they do this, they can see a 43% decrease in burnout symptoms. If you lead with Relationship Building strengths, how do you cope with burnout? https://lnkd.in/gu5UWCN9

Most people feel burned out at work, at least from time to time. This is normal — but workers have access to a range of effective coping strategies that can help diminish their stress. Burnout can happen when we’re not aligned with our natural talents. When we operate outside of our areas of strength for too long, stress and disengagement can take a toll. Oftentimes, an individual’s natural coping mechanism to burnout is generally less effective than coping strategies that use and capitalize on their strengths. By recognizing and leveraging your unique abilities, you can reignite your energy, enhance engagement, and create a more fulfilling work life. Gallup finds that employees who use their strengths every day are 6x more likely to be engaged and 3x more likely to have an excellent quality of life. Reconnect with your strengths and build resilience against burnout. Learn more about how to overcome burnout using your strengths here: https://lnkd.in/gEm-hUas
