  • 🤝 The Power of Collective Leadership and Co-Creation By working together, young people can significantly amplify their impact, integrating inner development practices with external activities to create a holistic approach to environmental stewardship. Here's how collective leadership and co-creation can transform our efforts: 🌿 Enhance Resilience: Collective action strengthens our resilience in the face of the myriad environmental challenges we encounter. When we support each other, we foster a robust community capable of overcoming obstacles together. 🫱🏾🫲🏿 Share Wisdom and Support: A collaborative community is built on the sharing of knowledge and resources. By fostering connections across different movements, we empower one another and generate innovative ideas that enhance our collective capabilities. 🌱 Build Creative Solutions: Working together enables us to develop innovative and sustainable solutions tailored to address the climate crisis effectively. • The Roots Climate Justice Camp is a force to behold! This October, around 300 youth climate justice advocates gathered to explore a range of themes, from gender to demilitarisation to navigating global climate negotiations. We were so impressed with the foresight of the Roots Team in integrating well-being into the camp. Climate Youth Resilience was honoured to be invited to the beautiful campus of MS Training Centre for Development Cooperation (TCDC). We explored the land of Arusha with Alec, who grew up in the area and shared stories to connect us with place. The TCDC campus, home to extensive training programs, carries Africa’s legacy in the naming of its rooms - Nyerere, Kwame, Mandela, and of course, Wangari Maathai among others. CYR delivered one of over 70 sessions. We addressed the importance of inner work to sustain movements around climate advocacy and to consider ways in which all young people can be cared for in this time of rising risks to mental health. We were moved by the readiness to engage with the tender aspects of environmental destruction which intersect with other crises, as well as by the fact that so many of those present expressed the need for this kind of work. We feel blessed to be connected to these young leaders who are doing incredible work in their countries and communities. CYR is always grateful for the support of the Robert Ho Family Foundation and the Mindfulness Initiative that makes this pressing work possible. Our heartfelt gratitude to the Roots Team, including Feli, Ro, Maryam, Agus, Sandra, for their clear vision and service. At CYR, we build community, co-create policy, and develop capacity building programs to support the inner worlds of young people at this time of intersecting global crises. Follow this page for more updates on our community, our policy and educational work, and our research findings. And reach out to cyr@mindfulnessinitiative.org.uk if you'd like to get involved.

  • 🌍 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿-𝗟𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 🍃 We are pleased to share insights from our recent research, highlighting a growing trend among young climate leaders: the recognition of inner development practices as essential for sustaining their enthusiasm. When these practices reach a broader global audience, they have immense potential to influence environmental action. To capitalize on this momentum, we must focus on these critical areas: 💪🏽𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹-𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴: Investing in support systems that promote mental health and deepens resilience is essential for empowering young people. By nurturing their mental well-being, we enable them to tackle challenges more effectively and sustain their commitment to environmental causes. 🤲🏽𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Increasing recognition of inner development practices within environmental spaces can enhance the effectiveness of climate action initiatives. These practices foster deeper self-awareness and commitment among young people, ultimately benefiting the movement as a whole. 🌍𝗙𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: We should work towards cultivating a worldwide network that shares and promotes the values of inner development. By building this community, we create an environment where young people can connect, share experiences, and support one another in their journeys. In addition to these focus areas, we must move from inner change to policy change; we must adapt our educational, health, and recreational policies to ensure that all young people have access to these resources. By working together, we can create spaces that not only emphasizes external change but also prioritizes the inner growth and well-being of our emerging leaders and future generations. We encourage you to share your thoughts on the role of inner development in enhancing climate activism. #InnerDevelopment #YouthResilience #ClimateAction #GlobalLeadership #MentalHealth #Sustainability
