DBS Bank was recently named the Most Innovative Bank in the Asia Pacific region at the Global Finance Innovators 2024 Awards! We were recognised for several innovations, including the use of gen AI in a fraud detection tool to raise our precision and capture rate by 50%. Other innovations that contributed to our win include our cross-border QR payments and digital liquidity management solutions. This past weekend, we joined forces with AngelHack for a whirlwind 24-hour hackathon #DBSAsiaX , as part of their adrenaline-pumping Global Hackathon Series. 🌏💻 The event saw over 300+ brilliant developers, designers, and entrepreneurs participate to collaborate and deliver groundbreaking solutions aimed at driving social impact. Interesting fact: Over 42% of the teams chose financial inclusion for Singapore's aging population as a challenge – which is also a key focus area for DBS. 💡💪. Together, we hope that some of these solutions can help us forge into the future where we can enable financial security and well-being for our elderly. The participants were also inspired by the presence of Him Chuan LIM , our Group executive and Head of Group strategy, Transformation, Analytics and Research, who aptly called it “Coding for a Better World,” and helped judge the winners of this epic hackathon: 🏆 1st Place: Team: Triple-E - Financial Goals Reminder Chrome Extension 🥈 2nd Place: Team: BrainRot - SaySum 🥉 3rd Place: Team: Redemption Arc - Defendy Throughout the event, mentors from various fields, including DBS employees, provided guidance and feedback to the teams, helping them refine their ideas and troubleshoot any issues they encountered.
