From Bloomberg News: Climate events like flooding and drought can create increased risk for #cholera outbreaks. “Conflicts, outbreaks, climate-related disasters and other health emergencies are no longer isolated or occasional – they are relentless, overlapping and intensifying,” World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. We can meet the challenge of these overlapping issues with an integrated approach of our own—one that combines immunization, #sanitation, and other interventions. #DefeatDD https://lnkd.in/eVfN2en2

👏 Initially supported by Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and now fully self-financed, Uzbekistan's rotavirus vaccination program is celebrating one decade strong. Thanks to the vaccine, the number of children with diarrhea admitted to rural health clinics has dropped from about 20 cases per week to just five cases per week. Success is attributed to: 1. Meticulous planning 2. Robust (and early) public engagement 3. Stringent quality assurance measures #VaccinesWork #DefeatDD
