About us
DNS4EU is an initiative of the European Commission, supported by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), to provide an EU-based alternative to dominant public DNS resolvers. Its goal is to offer EU citizens, companies, and institutions a secure, privacy-compliant, and resilient recursive DNS service, strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty and security. The European Commission has entrusted the development and operation of DNS4EU to a consortium led by Whalebone, leading European cybersecurity company focused on securing telcos, ISPs, public institutions, and enterprises. The consortium includes experts from private companies, CERTs, and academic institutions across 10 EU countries. DNS4EU Update and Anonymisation Options Robert Šefr, CTO and Co-Founder of Whalebone joined us earlier this week to give an update on the progress of the #DNS4EU initiative (Whalebone leads the consortium delivering the open resolver part-funded by the European Commission). Robert gave a brief status update for the project. He then outlined three approaches to anonymisation of data that the team are considering to allow researchers to analyse log data in a privacy-preserving manner. 📆 Our last General Meeting of the year just concluded, with broad and active participation from our members over two days of insightful exchanges and joint ambitions to drive the association forward as we look ahead into 2025. 🚀 Looking back at an eventful year marked by the change brought by EU elections, EuroISPA is now looking at the next exciting steps to take in 2025. We are looking forward to continue bringing the #ISPs perspective into discussions with the new European Parliament and European Commission. Our November General Meeting was a crucial moment to finetune our strategy for 2025, our engagement plan, and the focus areas that are most impacting our members. Participants also had the opportunity to hear from expert guest speakers on a range of different topics.
