About us

DNS4EU is an initiative of the European Commission, supported by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), to provide an EU-based alternative to dominant public DNS resolvers. Its goal is to offer EU citizens, companies, and institutions a secure, privacy-compliant, and resilient recursive DNS service, strengthening Europe's digital sovereignty and security. The European Commission has entrusted the development and operation of DNS4EU to a consortium led by Whalebone, leading European cybersecurity company focused on securing telcos, ISPs, public institutions, and enterprises. The consortium includes experts from private companies, CERTs, and academic institutions across 10 EU countries.
