About us
The EE Modeling System (EEMS) includes EFDC+, EFDC+ Explorer (EE), and Grid+. EFDC+ A state-of-the-art, multifunctional surface water modeling engine that includes hydrodynamic, sediment-contaminant, and eutrophication components designed to simulate aquatic systems in one, two, and three dimensions. EFDC+ Explorer A Graphical User Interface (GUI) that provides a broad range of pre-processing and post-processing tools to assist in developing, calibrating, and analyzing EFDC+ models. Grid+ A grid-generating tool for hydrodynamic models that makes the process of building complex 2-dimensional curvilinear orthogonal grids quick, intuitive, and robust enough for even the most challenging waterbodies. The test case is intended to demonstrate the development of a surface mixed layer in a stably stratified fluid cooled from above by the EFDC+ model. The scenario of the free convection simulated here is similar to the numerical experiment of Van Roekel et al. (2018), the field study and numerical model of Large et al. (1994), and the laboratory experiment of Behnia and Viskanta (1979). Last month, our academic partner, Professor Dongil Seo from Chungnam National University in Korea, hosted a water quality modeling seminar featuring EEMS, with the support of our software reseller, Softline System. This two-day event included in-depth lectures on water quality, hands-on exercises focused on grid generation and model development, and practical case study applications of EEMS.
