  • 48 female-identifying students in year 4 from St Aidan's Anglican Girls' School participated in the Academy for Enterprising Girls Workshop, facilitated by Mia and Renae from Young Change Agents. Students worked in teams of 4-5 in this "hackathon-style" workshop to identify problems within their communities then ideate, validate, prototype and pitch. Ten social enterprise ideas were pitched and students' mindset, skillset, and toolset development were recognised and celebrated with a certificate ceremony at the end of the program. Some ideas included: 👉‘Together Forever Girls’: Our social enterprise, Disco Buddies, plans discos for schools for a fee. 50% of our profits go to schools to help improve playgrounds and help make school breaks fun. 👉‘We fly together’: At We Fly Together, we notice that most students have boring grass playgrounds and a lack of entertainment. We help students find entertainment in their breaks. At our social enterprise, we help kids have fun and be their best version of themselves. 👉‘The Crafty Gals’: We are Games Galore EDU and we are solving boredom in school subjects by making educational games for teachers to improving our knowledge but also make it fun! Our customers are schools in Australia and we make games to increase learning. 50% of our profits goes to charity and 50% to creating new games for us to sell. 👉‘SIG Girls’: Our social enterprise, Fidget Masters is working to help the homeless. We make toys and fidgets and when you buy a toy, we give a toy to a school. When we sell our environmentally friendly toys/fidgets we also give some of our profits to help homeless people. Well done to all of the girls who participated! Young Change Agents' social entrepreneurship programs help youth see problems as opportunities. Thank you to the amazing leadership and educator team, Kirby Egan and Lizzy Hill for organising this program and for actively participating on the day. Interested in our workshops? • Calling all educators, executive teachers, and careers advisors! We're thrilled to introduce the Enterprising Girls x HEX BOLD Careers Workshops, offering a fresh and dynamic approach to help students in Years 10-12 explore their future career paths. These interactive 90-minute sessions are designed to empower students to uncover career opportunities that align with their individual strengths and values, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future. BOLD Careers Workshops will run throughout Term 2, 2025, and availability is limited—half of the spots have already been filled. To ensure all students have the chance to participate, we encourage smaller schools to partner with nearby institutions to host a workshop. Larger groups will maximise the impact of these sessions. If you have any questions or need more details, please reach out through the link in our bio or send us a direct message!

  • Did you know only 42% of girls were studying STEM electives compared to 75% of boys across grades 9 and 10? Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a day to promote full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls. Enterprising Girls is about helping Australian girls and young women develop the mindset and passion for entrepreneurial and STEM subjects to help set them up for future success. From early education to tertiary level, our program provides learning and teaching environments in which girls choose and relish all STEM subjects. The integration of STEM skills with other skills like entrepreneurship and design thinking is key to the success of leading organisations in a large number of fields and industries. Australia will continue to rely on STEM skills and innovation to support future economic growth. #WomenAndGirlsInScience #EnterprisingGirls #STEM

  • Today, we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a moment to honour the strength, resilience, and passion of young female athletes who inspire us all with their determination on and off the field. This day serves as a reminder of the progress we’ve made and the work still to be done to create a more inclusive sports world for girls and women. At The Academy for Enterprising Girls, we understand the transformative power of sports in shaping leadership, confidence, and teamwork. It’s essential to recognise not only the athletes but also the incredible teachers and coaches who provide the guidance, mentorship, and encouragement necessary for these young women to thrive. Their commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in sports creates the opportunities that enable girls to excel and break barriers. To all the teachers, coaches, and mentors out there—thank you for championing the next generation of female athletes. Your dedication empowers young girls to dream big, push boundaries, and redefine what is possible. Together, let’s continue to support and uplift these young women, ensuring they have every opportunity to pursue their passions and leave a lasting impact on the world. Happy National Girls and Women in Sports Day! 🏆 #nationalgirlsandwomeninsportsday #enterprisinggirls
