Remap 1.0: A Journey of Passion, Innovation, and Learning 🚀 At Government Model Engineering College, we have numerous clubs, each with its flagship event. One of my dreams when I first joined was to lead a flagship event—not just any event, but the first edition of one. Thanks to Excel 2024, I was able to make that dream come true. For years, Excel lacked a flagship hardware event, and our team—the Excel GenTech team—changed that. When you bring together a group of ambitious individuals skilled in both technology and management, you create something entirely new. 🔹 Our goal: Deliver a high-quality, premium event with limited participation (50 attendees) so that everyone could truly learn, build, and connect. 🔹 What we did: Sessions on Attiny, Onshape by PTC , an overnight project-building session using Seeed Studio boards, and an Industrial Visit to Fablab Kerala. 💡 Key people behind Remap 1.0: ✨ Rishikesh S , the GenTech head, for trusting us with this event. ✨ Anirudhan B (co-event manager) for his energy and drive that kept us going. ✨ Arjun Krishnan R & Uday Shankar Singh (Tech Heads) for training both the volunteers and students on Attiny, Seeed Studio boards, and Onshape by PTC and taking sessions on the same. ✨ Kerala Startup Mission & Fablab Kerala for hosting us and their inspiring sessions. We executed the entire event without any external financial sponsorship, ensuring high quality while breaking even. 🎯 Team Selection & Execution: We focused on the Pareto principle, selecting 14 exceptional volunteers who played an essential role in making Remap 1.0 a success. Visiting Kerala Startup Mission in India was an incredible experience! Seeing startups turn ideas into real products using industrial 3D printers, laser cutters, and high-tech machining tools was truly inspiring. From exploring their startup incubator to interacting with a fully functioning robot, I was amazed by how technology and entrepreneurship come together in such a dynamic space. The Fablab Kerala is packed with everything entrepreneurs need to prototype and scale, showing how the right infrastructure fuels innovation. Huge thanks to the Semester At Sea / ISE and Professor Chris Blocker for making this experience possible! Definitely one to remember!

🌟 I 3D printed a spanner to tighten loose nuts in my brain 🌟 This weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to attend a 3D Printing Workshop 🖨️ by Fablab Kerala, hosted at the Kerala Literature Festival 📚, right on the beautiful Calicut Beach 🌊. What an unforgettable experience! FabLab, an incredible initiative by Kerala Startup Mission 🚀, guided us through the process of designing ✍️ and 3D printing 🛠️ our own creations. I ended up designing a spanner-shaped keychain 🔑🔧—completely random, but fun nonetheless! When I showed it to my wife, she couldn’t stop laughing and joked: "Is this to tighten the loose screws in your head for running around like this? 🤪🔩" Well, maybe it is! 😄 Of course, I got asked quite a few times: "Why is a doctor here? 🩺🤔" And my reply? "Why not? 🤷♂️ You may never really know where learning can take you. 💡" The potential of 3D printing in medicine 🩻, from creating prosthetics 🦾 to revolutionizing surgical planning 🧠, is limitless. The discussions I had with the brilliant minds behind FabLab were truly inspiring.
