We’ve successfully wrapped up the Synthetic Data for Earth Observation (#SD4EO) project, in collaboration with the ARTEC group of the Universitat de València, and funded by the European Space Agency - ESA’s #FutureEO programme. The project demonstrated how integrating physically- and AI-based synthetic data can enhance Earth Observation applications, from detecting built-up areas to monitoring photovoltaic panels. GMV, as the prime contractor of the REALM activity, is pushing the boundaries of space technology in collaboration with SAC, Thales Alenia Space, Pitch, and the UK Space Agency. REALM focuses on developing advanced Verification & Validation (V&V) capabilities for In-Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing (IOSM) using cutting-edge technologies like AR/VR, Digital Twins, and Distributed Simulation. 🌟 Key highlights: 🔹 Creating a distributed simulation environment with digital twins and VR visualization. 🔹 Demonstrating these capabilities through an in-orbit refueling scenario with hardware-in-the-loop simulations. 🔹 Exploring the use of VR in designing, developing, and validating complex systems. The OPTIMAS project has officially launched! Led by Navantia, S.A., S.M.E with the collaboration of GMV, this European initiative aims to develop an advanced free-space optical communication system for high-speed, secure data transfer across defense applications. The final demonstrator will showcase bidirectional optical communications with advanced satellite pointing, acquisition, and tracking capabilities in low Earth orbit (LEO), with potential applications in medium (MEO) and geostationary (GEO) orbits. At the 47th Rocky Mountain AAS GN&C Conference in Breckenridge, Colorado, our colleague Andrea Pellacani showcased GMV’s cutting-edge work on the #Hera mission’s Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) subsystem.
