The Graduate Program of Public Health at Icahn Mount Sinai is proud to announce its reaccreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit schools and programs of public health. The CEPH Board of Councilors acted at its December 3-4, 2024 meeting to accredit the Graduate Program in Public Health for a seven-year term, which is the maximum term allowable. This decision reflects our program’s collective commitment to excellence in public health education, scholarship and service. Matthew Park, PhD, is a sixth-year candidate in the MD-PhD program at the Icahn School of Medicine. He was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 listing for Healthcare 2025. Dr. Park’s doctoral research has advanced the understanding of cancer as an aging-related disease. He discovered that having an old immune system sets up a line of communication that suppresses the main immune cells assigned to fight cancer. He has also contributed to five major clinical trials looking at repurposing drugs to treat cancer. Read more: https://mshs.co/4gEPgSn

Kristen Whitney, PhD, is the 2024 recipient of the Robin Chemers Neustein Postdoctoral Fellowship Award. This award is given to senior postdoctoral scientists who intend to complete their training within two years, have demonstrated high-impact accomplishments in biomedical sciences, and exhibit the potential for an independent scientific career. Dr. Whitney’s research is aimed at uncovering the earliest changes that occur in the aging brain that are causing cells to die. She is a postdoctoral fellow in the John F.
