As the driver of trade strategy and economic security in the UK, Trade Minister Douglas Alexander is in Vancouver this week to: 🌏 Meet Asia-Pacific trade partners at the 8th annual #CPTPP Commission Meeting—including his Canadian counterpart, Minister Mary Ng 📍 Reinforce the UK as a top investment destination for the business community in BC and rest of Canada 🤝 Strengthen the UK’s partnerships with Indigenous development agencies to help deliver critical projects Britain’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)—a free trade area that will span 5 continents once the UK joins—is imminent. Once the deal enters into effect, more than 99% of current UK goods exports to CPTPP members will be tariff-free.
