👨🌾👩🌾 Yesterday, ICBF representatives met with the Teagasc research farm managers for an update on the HoliCow project. 📊 We discussed about data visualisation, how the farmers wanted the results to be shown in the online dashboard, and what the next steps will be. 🤝 It's very important to work hand in hand with our pilot farmers so that our platform can be adapted to the farmers' everyday needs. It was not easy bringing a cow to Croke Park… 🏉🥵 But we did it! 🥳 Joke apart (but thank you VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre for the cow and the spectometer) 🤣 we are having a great time at the #NWEAnnualEvent in Dublin along with more than 400 registered participants. Julie Leblois, together with a local Irish farmer, presented the project during the breakout session on “Sustainable agriculture and resilient food systems”. This interactive presentation was a great opportunity to gather feedback from participants and to share our vision about the future of dairy farming 🐮 At our stand, we are talking about the project and answering all your questions, don't hesitate to come by 👋🏻 The networking opportunity throughout this two-day event is amazing to bring cooperation to the next level! 🚀 Interreg North-West Europe (NWE) - Ready, get set, cooperate! 📸 Cow health and welfare, milk quality, environmental impact of the dairy herd... What can a single drop of milk tell us? 🥛 🎤 On the 17th of October, Marine Gelé, from Institut de l'Elevage (idele), lead a workshop in the Poisy Farm (Centre d'Elevage de Poisy Lucien Biset), a training centre and one of our pilot farms. More than 370 people participated in this event showcasing 12 R&D projects and around a hundred people (students and professionals) participated in the HoliCow workshop. 📊 The presentation was organised around a questionnaire on milk recording and the results were very interesting, here is an insight: ❌ 60% of the participants knew how to define milk recording, but 25% of the participants wrongly thought that milk recording can be punitive for the farmers 📆 Most of the participants gave the right answer regarding the frequency of the recording 😱 But only 6% of the respondents knew that over 200 indicators can be obtained from a milk sample ✅ 83% of the respondents are convinced that milk recording is important for improving milk production And you? 🤔 Did you know? 💡 Projects are often devided into Work Packages (WP) which represent the different phases or topics of the project and which group related tasks. 🐮 The HoliCow project is divided into 3 Work Packages: 🔬 𝐖𝐏𝟏: 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬, 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭.  A team of data and agricultural scientists work on complex equations using the +63 million data from our transnational database to create models that can be integrated in the new tool. 📲 𝐖𝐏𝟐: 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐓. Our team of developers are creating a new tool from scratch: this requires knowledge and a close collaboration with our scientific team! 👨🌾 𝐖𝐏𝟑: 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐬, 𝐥𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫! Each partner collects feedback from our pilot farms to make sure that the new tool created is adapted to their needs.
