His session highlighted the Euratom framework’s role in ensuring uniform nuclear safety, #waste management, and #radiation protection regulations, along with the importance of aligning European standards with international bodies like #IAEA and #ASME. Paul also discussed major #reactor projects, including Poland’s #AP1000 plans, Romania’s #SMR deployment, the Czech Republic’s collaboration with Rolls-Royce and KHNP, and Bulgaria’s focus on extending Kozloduy NPP operations. Additionally, he reviewed the U.S. #licensing landscape and emerging technologies like Small Modular and Advanced #Reactors, emphasizing HSB’s global expertise in supporting multinational projects through #compliance, #inspections, and project management. Meet your presenter: Tobias Ludwig, Dipl.-Ing. (FH) & IWE, provides training, technical support/code consulting on ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Sections I, III, IV, VIII & IX for HSB. Tobias has over 30 years’ experience in engineering and fabrication, more than 20 years’ experience in the pressure equipment field, and over 14 years in the nuclear field. He has instructed technical courses covering ASME B31.1 and the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) for many years. Tobias’s work experience has been focused in the area of steel structure and pressure equipment designed to various construction codes and standards, including ASME Sections I, IV, VIII and B31.1 in his roles as QA/QC Engineer, Welding Engineer, Inspector, and Supervisor. As HSB Manager Code Services (EMEA), he is responsible for ASME activities and personnel. He currently holds a National Board Commission with "AI" and "IS" as well Endorsements “B”, “C”, “N”, “NS”, “NSc”, and “R”. Tobias Ludwig is a member of the German IWG on Power Boilers for BPV I, VIII, IX, III & XI.

Successful Completion by U.S. Coast Guard Audit of HSB’s CSC Inspection Program We are pleased to announce that #HSB has successfully passed the U.S. Coast Guard's audit of our Conformity for Safe Containers (#CSC) inspection program. The U.S. Coast Guard conducts reviews of existing Delegated Approval Authorities (#DAA) once every five years to verify that recognized organizations continue to conduct review, testing, and approval of container designs in accordance with the International Safe Container Act and the International Convention for Safe Containers. The results of the Coast Guard’s review demonstrate that our DAA program continues to comply with the selection criteria detailed in 49 CFR § 450.12 and successfully meets the record keeping requirements of 49 CFR § 450.14. During the audit, HSB was represented by Tim Nuoffer, Field Services Manager, and Sandy Babka, Design Manager, both of whom played a critical role in ensuring our program's compliance and excellence.
