  • Last week, our students on the International Bioinnovation Program put their creativity and innovative skills to the test in the Lab to Market course ⚗️ With the support and guidance from our team here in Silicon Valley, they are gaining the toolkit to turn ideas into tangible solutions. The students were trained in pitching techniques and design thinking. They learned how to successfully transform ideas from the lab into market-ready solutions that can make a real difference in the world. The International Bioinnovation Program is an opportunity for STEM students made possible through a collaboration with Novo Nordisk Foundation, which covers major costs and provides students with a monthly stipend. Hereby, they get the chance to work in a Silicon Valley startup.

  • We all hear about fraud and scams here and there. The future of it is here, and it’s powered by AI. As an integral part of our program, Leadership in the Age of GenAI, 21 Danish CxOs from the Danish conglomerate USTC recently visited Silicon Valley. Here, they met with Professor Hany Farid, a leading expert in digital forensics at UC Berkeley and founder of GetRealLabs. He highlighted the alarming rise of AI-driven voice scams and deepfakes. A striking case involved a father who received a distressing call from someone sounding exactly like his son, claiming to be in danger and urgently needing money. The voice was so convincing that he nearly transferred $9,000 before realizing it was a scam enabled by AI voice cloning technology. Professor Farid stressed that as AI advances, so do fraud tactics. His advice? Organizations must proactively prepare by implementing secure verification protocols, such as “safe words” for high-stakes communications. This raises critical questions for corporate leaders: How vulnerable are executives to impersonation scams? Could AI-generated voice and now video fraud manipulate financial transactions, contracts, or leadership directives? As businesses adopt AI, balancing its strategic potential with strong security measures will be key. This exclusive program for USTC was organized in collaboration with H&B | Hildebrandt & Brandi, helping provide valuable insights into how companies can strategically leverage AI and emerging technologies.

  • Have you ever heard about the other “F” word? Recently, Mark Coopersmith, Senior Fellow & Faculty Director at UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business, introduced the word - namely, failure - for 21 Danish executives from USTC. As a seasoned expert in innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership, Mark has spent decades helping startups and global organizations scale, adapt, and thrive. During the session, Mark emphasized that fostering a culture of innovation is essential for long-term success. A key - yet often overlooked - factor? Embracing failure as a catalyst for innovation and growth. This insight aligns with his book, The Other "F" Word: How Smart Leaders, Teams, and Entrepreneurs Put Failure to Work, where he explores how leaders can turn failure into a competitive advantage 🚀 He highlighted how many top companies faced setbacks early on, but by iterating, learning, and adapting, they transformed obstacles into success. Mark’s message was clear: Resilient, risk-embracing organizations will define the future. This tailored USTC program, organized in collaboration with H&B | Hildebrandt & Brandi, provided strategic insights into leveraging AI, emerging technologies, and innovation-driven leadership for long-term success.
